Anyone who is susceptible to fact-based argument is already in the Obama camp.

The low-information voters will never hear about this and wouldn't actually understand it if they did, any more than they did when the WMD weren't found and even Bush admitted that Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11.

4. Some sad stats about the U.S.

#1 in obesity
#1 in crime
#1 in prisoners per capita
#1 in oil consumption (over twice as many barrels a day as #2, China)
#1 in CO2 emissions, gross and per capita (but climate change is a hoax anyway, right?)
#1 in TV viewing (tied with the UK)
#4 in firearms murders (sorry, but South Africa, Columbia, and Thailand beat us out on that. Better luck next year!)
#14 in science literacy
#15 in reading literacy
#18 in math literacy
#37 in education spending
#49 in life expectancy

The most disheartening statistic of all, though:

#41 in IQ (average of 103.82)

Is it any wonder, then, that there remains a large bloc of low-information voters out there who abide by whatever the media tells them? And when the (corporate-owned) media decides on an agenda, is it any wonder when the interests of the people may not take precedence over the interests of the shareholders and boards of directors?

This is the uphill battle facing those among us who make the effort to be informed. Aside from loudmouths who tend to favor the purveyors of convenient alternate realities who seek to justify willful ignorance, we face a dormant swath of the population who are effectively placated by "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child" and "Jersey Shore" (I cannot overemphasize enough what this represents as far as where we are heading as a nation).
