(22,271 posts)Our group has been doing non-stop phone banking from here in California for weeks now. The campaign keeps telling us, phone bank, phone bank, phone bank and that's what everyone's been doing. We tell everyone, even if you have an extra 15 minutes, phone bank! And the new dialer makes it even easier than it was before. The Bernie campaign has made activism SO incredibly easy.

(63,912 posts)I did it for our governor and found that lots of people don't answer their phone and some are relying on their cell phone only, no land line. Our land line is being bombarded by telemarketing robo calls daily and I thought we had banned them. They're sneaky. We never answer but they play "call from******"" and we can tell when they're bogus...

(22,271 posts)if someone on the other end answers AND we're calling cell phones and landlines. Do we get people who hang up on us? Yes. But we're like the Energizer Bunny, we just keep going and going and going.

(9,773 posts)Oh my...
Leading up to the Michigan primary, I received at least one text on my cell a day from the Bernie campaign.
I answered, then group texted that text, not my answer, to my entire contact list.
My family, a rather large brood, did the same to thier contact list.
Word spread better than any land line.
It's a new day!

(22,271 posts)Seriously, we're using all the tools the campaign is giving us. And, FYI, we're not calling only land lines, we're calling mostly cell phone numbers.
And yeah, we're aware "it's a new day."

Not too many folks over the years have been able to make Nate Silver look foolish. But a bunch of noname hearts in Michigan did just that.
Way to go!!

(199 posts)They are always putting out PSA reminders regarding deadlines to register, what areas need attention and the best ways to spread info. This morning is a time for patting ourselves on the back regarding Michigan, but over there, they are already looking ahead to the next primary and trying to get their users fired up. Congrats to them, and I think they really are playing a major roll in supporting Sanders.
If you haven't been over there, stop by and check it out.

(6,346 posts)I had driven over a thousand miles to be with family and get out the vote in my home state of Michigan. As I was convincing my sister and nephew in the living room to feel the Bern, the phone rang. It was Sandsrs' phone banking operation. They had just reached a lively discussion that resulted in tworking new votes for Sanders.
But just so phone bankers keep their spirits up, realize this: the phone banker only asked if there were questions they could answer about Bernie, and the response was that we were in the middle of a discussion about that. When asked at the outset, my sister who was leaning heavily bernie by that point simply said she was "not sure" who she would be supporting.
In reality, at that moment or within a very few minutes later the room had gone all in for Bernie. But the phone bankers only heard "not sure" and "we're in a good discussion about politics right now."
That's what a historic upset can sound like, when you're a phone banker. So keep up the good work phone bankers! Even where you don't share a single fact, I'm sure it helped that the campaign was calling at the same time that we were having our living room discussion about presidential preferences.
