Ricky Martin endorses Obama

Published on Oct 15, 2012 by BarackObamadotcom

Ricky Martin shares why he's standing with President Obama and what you can do to make sure he's re-elected for a second term.

As Ricky shares:

"As a parent, I'm especially thankful that the President is working to end bullying because no one should be afraid to walk down the street holding hands with the person they love."

IMO when his career first exploded, he was his generation's successor to Elvis.

He didn't go as far as he should have and I'm sure he knows a lot about bullies.

The right-wing's homophobia pushed him away from the Republicans, expect many others to follow. The anti-marriage amendment may have gave the Republicans temporary political gains, but people will remember their homophobia for years to come. Ricky Martin may be one of the most well known people they lost, bu you can be assured there are many other less well known names that will leave the party of hate because of their homophobic policies.

Or whether he was ever a Republican at all.

He accepted President Bush's invitation to sing at his inauguration, because that's often what you're expected to do when invited by the President.

But within a few years he was already criticizing Bush for the Iraq War, so I doubt he was ever really a supporter.

In 2008 he endorsed Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primaries. I was a Hillary supporter in 2008 and I remember him well from that time period.

So his support for the Democratic Party stretches over several years at least.

With his long hair and all that.

Broke my heart to learn he was gay. Same with George Michael (I was in 6th grade for that one). Sigh.

Damn you Ricky (& George)!
