(45,251 posts)I was replying to someone who equated something said on a Hillary website with "women" speaking out. Not only is that not an accurate statement, but that treats women like a monolith. If something appeared on Bernie Sanders.com and I claimed that equaled men speaking out, people would laugh and/or get offended and rightly so.

It is just more of the Clinton playbook. She was a petulant child last night. She interrupted. When called on it, she bit back. When asked questions from an AA on the 1990's crime bill, she replied "Well Sanders did it too!"
And then her army of sycophants and rat-fuckers pepper the airways for the next 24 hour news cycle with how poor little Hillary was treated poorly by the big bad mean and angry Sanders.
It is a game. You apparently saw through the same playbook in 2008 with no problems. It is fascinating that now you are denying the reality of the same.

Even works (usually) in one-on-one conversations...although it can be a bit awkward for both.

* Bernie Sanders: The Vermont Senator had effectively walked a fine line in the previous six debates when it came to attacking Clinton without coming across as either bullying or condescending. He tripped and fell while trying to execute that delicate dance on Sunday night. Sanders's "excuse me, I'm talking" rebuttal to Clinton hinted at the fact that he was losing his temper with her. His "can I finish please" retort ensured that his tone and his approach to someone trying to become the first female presidential nominee in either party would be THE story of the night.

(20,234 posts)It might be time to do some soul searching. I can do dumb crap on the internet because it's entirely unrelated to my job. I'm just someone sitting in my living room typing.
You, on the other hand, claim to be a journalist - and already have damaged your reputation in the contortions it took to transition from exposing Hillary as the compulsive liar she is - and then doing the weathervane thing to endorse her.
Then a lot of people questioned you when you went on Fox News, and I think the explanation was something about getting the message out to all people. (?)
But once you start actually becoming Fox News and internalizing their "journalism" methods - latch onto a talking point from the echo chamber that's entirely unrelated to policy or substance and start working to catapult the talking point, people notice what you've become.
Soul searching, dude. Think about what made you want to be a journalist to begin with. Do you have any reporters from days gone past that you look up to?

(314 posts)Hillary rudely interrupts Bernie. Bernie responds. And somehow Bernie's the bad guy in this exchange?
I've never been a Hillary fan, and the more this primary goes on, the more I honestly can't stand her, and this sort of thing is exactly why. The sense of entitlement expressed by many of her supporters is simply nauseating.

(28,959 posts)You can point to all kinds of articles but many women on DU have pointed out why they don't believe he was being sexist and such attacks actually are. I don't believe you think he was being sexist either which makes your OP really quite disgusting. What do you say to those women who are offended by this type of disingenuous smear campaign? And if you want to hide behind saying "I am only the messenger" it won't work. By posting this ilk you are flat out suggesting Bernie is sexist as directly as anyone who actually said it. Do you really believe Sanders is sexist Steve? Come on, your better than this, you know Bernie isn't sexist so don't try to smear him by spreading this kind of dirt around and hide behind suggesting you are only a messenger.
If you admit you truly think Bernie is sexist I will let you slide but if you don't believe it then posting this was in really poor taste.

(28,959 posts)After every debate there are always dozens of articles that suggest all kinds of things about what the author thinks the candidates are up to but people post on DU what they want people to hear. Again, if you think Bernie is sexist, more power to you but if not then you might want to ask yourself what was in your heart that made you feel it was so necessary to spread these kind of McCarthy tactics.

(16,631 posts)If Person A interrupts when Person B is speaking, then Person B has every right to say, "excuse me, I'm talking."
If person A supporters don't like that reply, they are implying that Hillary should have received some special, preferential treatment, based on sex categorization.
But that is totally sexist. Get it? Asking for something different or special, based on one's sex, is sexist. Just like voting for someone based on their sex categorization is also sexist.
That's how these ascribed characteristics work. Being either for or against someone, purely on the basis of an ascribed characteristic, is bad. Sex, race, ethnicity are ascribed characteristics.
And, if Hillary does need some kind of delicate, kid glove deference, then it's just reason #2459 why she is a poor candidate for the nomination.

It was rude of her to constantly interrupt when he was trying to talk.
If you want to be treated as equal then you can't react when you are treated just like anyone else. When you are rude, someone may point that out to you, just like the men always do when they are interrupted.
