Confession - I Am Watching More GOP Debates - Like A Horrific Accident

In 2008, I was definitely a lot more invested in the Democratic primary, and was very supportive of Barack Obama and dismissive of Hillary supporters. However, this campaign season, I have to admit that I have watched far more clips of the Republican primaries, because I just have a difficult time accepting not only that the Republican field is trying to out crazy each other, but that the more crazy they act, the higher they go in the polls. Torture? Birthism? Racism? Religious discrimination?

Finally, for all of the mutual outrage, do you see the Republicans actually acknowledging that the problem is not so much the candidates, but that the party has for far too long entertained and flirted with the crazy that is now dominating their party.

So, while I have tried to keep up with stuff on the Democratic side, it just is not the same as 2008. Whoever wins the nomination on the Democratic side has my support.

...the Republican race has just devolved into who can be the most pompous, racist, ass. If you try to seem Presidential, you are dismissed as a weakling. And why is Trump winning? Because he is telling like it is, rather than relying on Republican dog whistles or code words. Who needs Frank Lutz to dress up a racist message? Just get to the point and say ban muslims and build a wall, and bingo, you go up 10 points in the polls.

The reason is because we don't have as many Debates on DNC side because it is always worse to have a unknown get his voice out on national stage too many times. Too limit them it makes it better for the person who has national exposure to win primary. This race is not about trying to find best person to run by letting the candidates speak about issues. This primary is about slant and lies and making sure that one candidate is less heard because his views would appeal to more people that the others. But that is changing now that Sanders is doing better than they thought he would(They forgot that we the people control the internet not our masters) so now we might be getting a few more because Hillary is worried about the Blue States coming up.

God bless you that you think that most Americans are watching the Republican debates because of some vast conspiracy. I am watching it, because it is just a spectacle. I would never vote for them just like I would not want to race around the world, find a wife through the Bachelorrete, or be the Biggest Loser, but I will occasionally watch. Now, I do not want to see Hillary or Bernie go reality TV just to raise their ratings or profile.

The conspiracy, if there is one, is how the mainstream media does not highlight that there is little substantive difference between Trump and so-called mainstream Republicans as noted in this Krugman article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/04/opinion/clash-of-republican-con-artists.html?_r=0

Hillary and Bernie are mature and they deal with the issues and do not talk about the size of their genitalia. Now, perhaps if they did, they would get more ratings and more notice, but thank god that they are not. * shudder*

Like, there's something about watching the Republicans eat each other alive in a live setting, you never know what will happen.

Waterboarding is not torture, the size of various appendages, the size of each other's hands..." I have NEVER seen anything like this..." Yet, the crazier they sound, the better they do with their base."
