Bill & Hillary and Laureate University, part 1

http://dailycaller.com/2015/09/02/new-emails-show-hillary-assisting-for-profit-college-that-paid-bill-16-million/

<New emails released from Hillary Clinton’s email server reveal that while she was secretary of state, Clinton did a favor for a for-profit education company that later paid her husband more than $16 million.

In 2009, just a few months after Hillary took over at the Department of State, she was involved in planning a private dinner on education policy that featured herself, several State Department staff, and about a dozen individuals involved with higher education.

In one email, sent Aug. 2, 2009 and first noted by Inside Higher Ed, Clinton discusses the upcoming dinner and what guests should be invited. She urges the department to invite a representative of the for-profit chain Laureate International Universities to the dinner.

“And [redacted] works for the fastest-growing college network in the world, Laureate Universities, started by Doug Becker who Bill likes a lot,” Clinton says. “It’s a for-profit model that should be represented.”>

<While on the campaign trail, Clinton has been sharply critical of for-profit education, pledging in her college plan to “crack down on law-breaking for-profits” and promising to “bring integrity” to the field of online education, which for-profits are strongly associated with. She’s never criticized Laureate, though, while Bill has offered substantial praise for the company.>

I would suggest the Democrats & Independents of Minnesota, Colorado, Oklahoma, Vermont, and New Hampshire - not to mention the tie in Iowa & in the neck and neck race in Nevada - understand it quite well.

During her first year as secretary of state, however, Clinton pushed for the inclusion of a large for-profit education company at a higher education policy dinner hosted at the U.S. Department of State.

Clinton wrote in an email to a top aide that she wanted to add Laureate Education to the guest list for the event. Describing Laureate as “the fastest growing college network in the world,” Clinton said the company was “started by Doug Becker who Bill likes a lot.”

"It's a for-profit model that should be represented," she added in the August 2009 email. A senior vice president at Laureate was added to the guest list, a separate email shows.

Former President Bill Clinton several months later became an honorary chancellor for Laureate International Universities, a role for which he was paid $16.5 million between 2010 and 2014. Clinton stepped down from the position earlier this year.

Sleaze.

like Breitbart. I didn't know that the Daily Caller was one. The same story is in all kinds of media, as your post shows. Hillary's emails are now a matter of public record, despite her best efforts to avoid that. Too bad she didn't just use a government server.

Bernie Sanders has been the consummate gentleman and has refused to take the sleazoid potshots at Hillary. He has tried to keep the campaign rhetoric issue-oriented and level-headed.

HOWEVER, THAT WILL NOT BE THE CASE with the Republican nominee. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING Clinton has ever said or done or even imagined said or done, will be fodder for the political grist mill.

Not enough room on the wall? YOU'RE GOING TO NEED A BIGGER WALL.
