How do we Make Romney and Ryan pay a political cost for their lies?

This morning, thanks to another DU poster "applegrove", I have been reading up on debate strategies.....

As I read through debate strategies like the "Gish Gallop" I came across the following article with the writer's comment listed below:

"Romney and, indeed, all Republicans fail to understand that in the information age of instant reporting and video tape, every statement a candidate makes is easily verified or, in Romney’s case, debunked within minutes of uttering a contrary position or outright lie. On Wednesday night, Romney not only lied as pathological liars are wont to do, but he contradicted his own position and statements he made just a day earlier and that is the peril for pathological liars; they lie with such ease that they lose touch with reality and forget the lies they told just a minute earlier, and one has to wonder if President Obama knew Romney was digging himself into a pit of mendacity with no way out." But this made me stop and think. No, this scenario did not play out this way. Romney has not been labeled a pathological liar and someone that needs not to be taken seriously.

Why does Romney and Ryan's ability to lie and backtrack not come under ethical scrutiny?

It seems with their combined history of lying their overall character would come under an ethical microscope and a judgement rendered. Are there no standards for ethical conduct for presidential candidates?

How do we bring this matter to the political forefront?

How we disband the six corporations that now own the media is another topic but until we find an answer, they will tell us what to think and that is what we will think.

Crazy beliefs in front of the nation. Or they must be made to run away from the base at eac h debate. This alienates the base. Obama will never win a debate. The media wont allow it. But if Romney . Continuesto flip flop all over. How can his base believe him. They already don't trust him. He is putting himself in a no win situation.
