2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAm I missing something?
There's no passion in the Romney /Ryan ticket. Only hate.
There's nothing new to be found in the Romney /Ryan ticket. Only moving backwards.
There were no amazing feats that were accomplished in the past by those on the Romney /Ryan ticket. Only lies.
...and we're being told to believe that one debate has turned this election around?
We're being lied to.
When I watch and hear the crowds at Obama's speeches showing people smiling, screaming, cheering, crying with enthusiasm and energythat I don't think has been seen with any U.S. presidentI have to believe we are being lied to. Obama/Biden MUST be doing better than we're being told.
What am I missing here??? This is nuts!

(19 posts)your sentiment. I think we need to push Obama's agenda more than attacking Romney. We all know the difference, we need to that message out to the undicided and independent voters.Get out and make sure we vote!

(1,484 posts).......what we can see for ourselves, might be explained by the hypothesis that the news media is trying just as hard as it can to make this election the biggest horse race that we have ever seen. Why? Because it is in their best money making interest to do so.
It's all about the almighty dollar. The more they can pump up public hysteria and public anxiety, the more the sheeple will tune in to their various forms of media, clamoring to find out the latest scoop on the "horse race" that they are biting their nails about.
Of course they also keep track of the number of sheeple who tune into their format (be it newspaper, radio, TeeVee or internet) and they use the strength of those numbers to justify the advertising rates that they charge their advertisers. Hence, the more sheeple who subscribe to their spin, the more money/profit they will make.
Take for example Huff Post. I have lost count of the number of people on our forum who have complained that the information that is contained within Huff Post's stories very seldom correspond anymore to what the byline of the story says on the main page. Why? Because they don't really have many stories that are worth reading, so in order to trick a person into clicking on a story (and thereby create an instance of a "Hit" on the story), they need to trick their readers into thinking that the story really contains something within it that they are interested in reading about. Remember, the more "Hits" they can generate on their stories, the higher are the advertising rates that they can charge to their advertisers.
I would say that the main reason that Huff Post in is the business is to make money, not report the news. This is but one example contained in just one form of media. But this example can be extrapolated to many of the forms of media that manipulate us.

where else did we hear this? constantly when bush was in office; "you horrible liberals just
hate bush!!" constantly heard from the red staters and other kids in the schoolyard.
what a Load.
it's nonsense, and it's weak-- because it clouds critical thinking, rational judgment.
Rmoney/Ryan don't "hate" people; they are simply front men for the One Percent. Romney wants
to protect his and his wealthy buddy's wealth via low taxes, and Ryan kisses wealthy ass; he
will have a job-- whether as a do-nothing congressman, or working in PR for the Koch Bros.
they are simply doing what is in their best interest; it's not about "hate".
