One of Pussy Riot's lead members, Nadya Tolokno, visited Washington, D.C. to schmooze with Bernie Sanders staffers and tease her upcoming song.Almost immediately after the leader of Pussy Riot arrived in Washington, DC, to headline an annual libertarian gathering on Friday, she was already DMing on Twitter with the Bernie Sanders campaign.
I will have fun tonight with Bernie Sanderss office, we will have drinks tonight, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova (also known as "Nadya Tolokno" told The Daily Beast, as she was wrapping up her evening at the International Students for Liberty Conference. I am going to hang out with Bernie Sanderss team.
Tolokonnikova, who describes herself as a social democrat and was a supporter of Occupy Wall Street, is a leading member of Pussy Riot, the anti-Putin, feminist punk-rock collective based in Moscow. (It goes without saying that she is well to the left of many of the libertarian activists and students who she addressed at the Q&A session on Friday.) In 2012, she was famously convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" in Russia.

(94,737 posts)If you don't want your post discussed, perhaps you can post it in the safe cocoon of the Bernie Sanders group?
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)responding to what I deem disingenuous questions. Yours being one example.

(2,461 posts)Bernie has the popular vote, although it's getting slim I imagine after SC - anyone have the new number on that? - despite the younger demographic not coming out. Maybe Pussy Riot can help with this?

(4,762 posts)Says who? Isn't that decided by elections?
Voters who don't turn out aren't voters at all.

(4,762 posts)If that's even true and I'm not sure it is.

(2,461 posts)I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the spectre of any of the Republicans will light a fire under some asses for the GE. Just a little concerned that the dem nominee fight is providing a bit TOO much gasoline

(4,762 posts)We need all hands on deck this time.
rjsquirrel
(4,762 posts)real well.

(4,762 posts)I guess that's what you get after last night's drubbing.
Bernie needs older minority voters not emo college kids who won't vote anyway. Ask a church full of African Americans how they like Pussy Riot.
Lol. Wishful thinking. Anyone who even knows who PR is is either voting for Bernie or given up on electoral politics.
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)fooling? Pussy Riot is offering a tribute to Sanders, and she should be told to
forget it? No one asked her from the Sanders campaign...she stands in solidarity.
If anyone finds Pussy Riot offensive for trying to push back on Putin and his
regime it is not likely they want to vote for Bernie.
rjsquirrel
(4,762 posts)Lol whatever.
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)Your concern for their cause and Bernie is duly noted.
rjsquirrel
(4,762 posts)And "neoliberal" is an insult.
It's ok, Hillary's got this now, we can be friends when the butthurt is over,
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)You won last night but came into the thread to show your deep concern for Bernie and
and Pussy Riot. lol Your first comment was quite clear...you're not fooling anyone.
Neoliberal's are not likely to support Pussy Riot but they are likely to
mock and show "concern" when they are supporting Bernie.
rjsquirrel
(4,762 posts)It's a band. If only one is supporting Bernie then it's not the band supporting him. Have cake. Or eat it. Your choice.
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)Just like your sincere concern for Bernie and Pussy Riot, their cause and getting votes for him. lol

(10,164 posts)Besides, how are older minority voters in deeply red states, which constitute a significant portion of Hillary's minority vote advantage, any more valuable than non-voting "emo college kids" (insipid ageist insult duly noted) once the GE rolls around? Neither is going to matter one bit in the GE. Hillary's strategy is a classic "win the primary, get crushed in November" cock-up. She's alienated the only demographic that can make up for the huge boost in turnout her candidacy will create among far-right voters.
If Hillary were actually a progressive I wanted anywhere near the Oval Office, I'd be furious, since I think it's a loser in November. As it is, I'm just depressed that it may well turn out that the Democratic choice is just another slightly-less-toxic, pro-corporate conservative.
rjsquirrel
(4,762 posts)If they can be dissuaded from supporting their candidate because someone tells them he can't win.
They can make it otherwise. The burden is on his supporters to vote. We shall see.
To be clear I love Bernie. Love him. I just don't see him winning.
