Bernie Sanders supporters march in Rochester

Supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held a march downtown on Saturday afternoon.

Organizers with Rochester for Progress said similar marches were planned in 40 other cities to rally for Sanders.

The march was held in advance of Super Tuesday, when 12 states and a U.S. territory will hold primaries or caucuses to award delegates for the presidential candidates.

Sanders, a Vermont senator, is vying for the Democratic nomination with former New York Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

New York will hold its presidential primary election April 19.
