They hint that Obama will have his smallest lead in MA they have polled. The smallest so far has been 16 pts...so under that...

(4,551 posts)As long as it still means Elizabeth Warren winning the Senate.

(1,134 posts)and I think that's a good sign of a very temporary drop. If Romney was really surging, it would be reflected in downticket and so far no dice. Why isn't anyone talking about THAT anomaly.

(24,422 posts)wouldn't that naturally help President Obama as well, at least on Election Day. There probably won't be a lot of Democratic voters for Senate races that also vote for Romney I suspect (in most cases).

(4,551 posts)I don't get why. It's showing up in other polls.
Just prior to the debate, Obama had HUGE leads in Massachusetts and Romney was going DOWN.
Did some MA voters really buy all the b.s. Romney said ?
TroyD
(4,551 posts)He had leads of + 28 + 30 in MA last week.
Hopefully they will go back up.
In reality though, it doesn't matter too much if Romney ends up doing better in MA than he was last week UNLESS it affects the Senate race.
A good Obama number is necessary for Warren to do well (or at least so we assumed), but in this poll Warren seems to be doing well DESPITE Obama letting her down.
That's a good sign for Warren.

(5,693 posts)Keep in mind that probably 3/4 of the so-called Unenrolled in Massachusetts are actually embarrassed Republicans, and when Moderate Mitt showed up at the debate, they probably fell in love with their old governor all over again

(879 posts)if the reason for Obama's drop nationally is that in a state like Massachusetts his lead dropped from 28 to 14, that's the best news I've heard all week.

(2,117 posts)That means the national polls are ever so slightly better than they appear. It doesn't matter if Obama wins 100% of the vote in Massachusetts, he needs 50%+ in the swing states!
TroyD
(4,551 posts)The fate of the Senate may depend on Elizabeth Warren. She needs good numbers from Obama.
We need to get them MA Presidential numbers back up.
So far Warren is doing her part.

(2,117 posts)I think she took control of the race for good last night with her strong debate performance. It does not matter how well Obama does when she is as strong of a candidate as she is. I'm just saying if Obama is polling weaker in strong Democratic states and is still generally tied or one point behind in national polls, it must mean he is doing relatively better in the other states.
TroyD
(4,551 posts)But I just don't want to see Obama tank in MA - it doesn't send a good signal.
Remember we also want the victory of beating Mitt in his 'home state' by a wide margin!
Btw, don't know if you've had a chance to see it yet, but Warren has now taken the lead in today's Rasmussen poll for the first time this year.

(1,127 posts)if he wins by 17% or less this time brown has a very good chance of winning.
TroyD
(4,551 posts)But as I said above, yes, I am ticked off with Obama about this. Warren has been working her heart out, and the fate of the Senate depends on her.
Obama needs to keep his MA numbers up. So I hope he watches Warren debate and realizes that he needs to prepare for the next debate better and learn from her about how it's done.
