2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm wondering if the reason for small Democratic turnout
is simply because Democratic voters for the most part, don't care if Hillary or Bernie are facing the Republican in November and would be happy to vote for either one. If you like them both you might not be motivated to vote in the primary.

(5,252 posts)Another historic primary. You've got a Democratic woman from the "Stay the course even if it means nothing gets done" Party vs an Independent hell bent on "blowing it all the fuck up even if it means nothing gets done."
It has nothing to do with primaries in general. 2008 was another historic Primary but today's turnout is nowhere near those numbers, state after state. You're argument falls apart because the same could have been said of 2008.
There seems to be some paralysis on the part of the Democratic electorate. Is it learned helplessness? Watching your Hope and Change get obstructed for 7 years could cause PTSD...???
At the same time, this primary has the Rs energized. They are setting turnout records state after state.
Something is going on and it's not good. This is a BFD, too.

(155 posts)This year it's "inevitable" vs "unelectable" and no other choices. Where is the momentum to come from when the ONLY 2 choices are still stuck orbiting each other and where will it go once 1 breaks free?

Trump plus how many candidates still in it until S.C? When was the last time either party had as many candidates still in it through S.C?
I believe I heard that 60% of Republicans polled in Nevada want a candidate that's an "outsider" and Trump has gotten plenty of free advertising.
