2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf you're nervous about a Hillary Clinton presidency, relax.
She'll never be POTUS.
ANY fool can see that Trump and Sanders are the IT candidates in this cycle. That's the fight that the US wants and it's the one we deserve.
Someone recently said that the crisis in the middle east is a battle for the soul of Islam. Our election this year will be a battle for the soul of American idealism IF the Democrats run Sanders. If they run Clinton then it will be clear that the soul has already departed. She will lose in a landslide against Donald Trump.
For that reason it is imperative that we get Sanders nominated. He is really our only shot at avoiding a Trump presidency and the inevitable international backlash associated with that.

(279 posts)In my post above.
I'll vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination.
She's just going to lose in a gigantic fashion and if you can't see that you're out of your mind. She has negative favorability and downward momentum, no denying that.

(92,219 posts)I also believe over 95% of us at DU will vote the for the Democratic nominee regardless who we supported in the primary

(11,619 posts)Neither Islam nor the "American Ideal" has a soul, so fighting a battle for an object that does not exist seems unwise to me.
If I want to see one of those object, I look at the bottom of my shoes. That is about the closest one can get, though it is spelled differently.
I am not nervous about a Clinton or Sanders Presidency. Either of those will do.

MrChuck
(279 posts)did not crawl directly out of your rectum.
I never said fools would vote her in. I said I would vote for her if she were nominated and that she would lose.
I am certainly aware that other people have different opinions than my own. To suggest otherwise is further evidence of your unprecedented abnormal physiology.
Namely, the ability to speak articulately, although nonsensically, from your posterior.

(34,845 posts)One's leanings toward one candidate or the other is rather irrelevant since Clinton pretty much has the delegates lined up. Seems to me the 'better part of valor' is to work with what we have and push her further to the left.
But I suppose Super Tuesday will convince some -but not all- of that. One way or the other. Either Clinton consolidates her lead or Sanders breaks out. I'm good with either outcome.

(6,007 posts)All the polls and intelligent analysis says that Hillary would lose to Trump and Bernie will win and some polls have him with a huge win over Trump. As I said, Hillary loses to Trump.
You'd think those who really worried about making sure we have a Democratic President, you'd think they'd look at the facts and get behind Bernie.
Oh, I forgot . .. live long and prosper.

(7,231 posts)It will shrink the USA to a second-tier power. Superpowers are a matter of consent, not bullying and blustering. Surely we have learned that lesson from the utterly failed Bush doctrine?
