I watched Bernie and Hillary last night

I think they both did a great job of telling the audience why they should vote for them. They spoke about things that mattered to them, they talked about what they would do if they were the president, and how they would go about accomplishing those things.

The main thing I took away from the town hall was the Bernie did a great job of expelling his ideas "WITHOUT" having to attack Hillary, and Hillary did the same "WITHOUT" having to attack Bernie.

Why can't that be the way their supporters handle things? If supporters took the same high road we would not have all the fighting and bickering we see here on a daily basis. I would love to see discussions on actual issues, instead of hearing that the reason to vote for candidate X is that candidate Y is the most terrible person on earth.

Since the vast majority of DU has pretty much made their mind up who they will vote for, why can't we have more civil discussions instead of trashing and bashing? Nothing here is really going to change anyone's mind on who they will vote for, so why do we need all the attacks on the two candidates, and the attacks on anyone who does not agree with you on who is the best person for the job?

Which is a mischaracterization, but overall they were both pretty laid back this time around.

2. I have nothing against any supporter of Sec Clinton

However I have a lot against Sec Clinton herself. If somebody here wishes to trash and bash me based on my dislike for her, that is their prerogative. With few exceptions I will not respond in kind.

But I will continue to express my extreme distaste for Ms Clinton at every opportunity as long as a nominee has not been selected.

I'm proud to have been one who has tried to stay above the fray. I'm a Clinton supporter, but I think Bernie is a great man. He has brought some incredible new insight into this primary season, and if he is the ultimate nominee, I'll be voting for him.

If Clinton is the nominee, as I think she will be, and does not LEARN from the impact that Senator Sanders has had on things, she is going to be foolish. I think she will learn, and I believe she will incorporate some of his ideas into her platform.

Hillary is, in my opinion and in my mind, more qualified than Senator Sanders to be President. That does not mean that I have to denigrate Senator Sanders or his supporters.

There are a lot of posters that aren't into all the name calling and bashing. The problem is those who are here doing all the name calling and bashing instead of actually following the examples of their candidate have taken over the Bernie Sanders board, and GDP. The whole first page of GDP is mostly attacks on Clinton. I am sure Bernie would not approve of those posts.

100%. I don't spend just tons of time on DU any more, but for the time that I do spend here, the attacks on Clinton are at least 2 to 1 on Sanders, and the Clinton attacks are much worse.

No, I don't think Bernie would approve. Nor do I think Hillary would approve of any made against Bernie. Both of our candidates are just smarter than that. Unlike their Republican counterparts.

I agree that it should be more civil and less personally vitriolic.

However, vigorous debate and argument is the nature of a discussion board.

Plus we are not really 3D people here. We tend to identify each otehr as "Bernie suporters" of "Clinton supporters" as the sum total of identities.

In the real world, I have friends who support Clinton (I'm a bernie guy) and we have had some spirited discussions. But those are only a small portion of our relationship, so we stop if it starts to get destructive to the rest of our relationship.
