As a young man, Bernie did some great work, as a person he has great views, but basically he made the choice of living in a white liberal state where standing up for people secured votes. It's a hell of a lot harder to stand up for people when you face a powerful opposition. On the one issue where Bernie faced a powerful opposition, gun control, he was no braver than any other politician.
