Today is National Coming out Day

And with the election right around the corner, there’s no better time for you to come out to send a message that you want your elected officials to come out in support of LGBT equality.

Thanks for your support.

Yeah, and she said "FUCK" in her speech. She's still a fox and witty as ever. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #5

She told me she needed to think on this a day. The next day she woke me up, and cried with me for a minute. She than told me to clean my room , and has been fine with it ever since.

When i told my mom i was divorcing my husband because i figured out that i was gay, she was very angry and her first response was "who's going to feed the kids?". she was a hard-core, democrat hating republican and mormon. after I came out to her, she refused to look me in the eye again for the rest of her life. she died in 2001, a bitter, angry person.

I don't regret coming out to my mother for a moment. I was true to myself and have lived and honest and open life.
It's too bad she had so much hate in her heart that should could never accept me.

I just love that she embraced her son's natural state. I've know a lot of gay people who weren't accepted by their parents, including one of my first girlfriends. Perhaps there's a reason she wasn't interested in sexual relations with me. She's out now and proud of it. Hell, that was 1978 or so. But at least she came to terms with it and is happy. I always thought it was me.
