(114,904 posts)What he needs to do now is run ads in the states that have large Latino constituencies, exposing her in her own words, advocating to send children back to dangerous countries to send a message. Time to take off the kid gloves.

(30,481 posts)Clinton also has conservative organizations running ads against her. Free campaigning for Sanders.
It would still really shock me if he pulled his ads from SC.

(12,685 posts)could have. They have more than enough ammo. They are going to use her to damage the entire Democratic Brand.

(58,785 posts)This probably has something to do with Bernie moving his money around. My best guess is he's trying to lengthen the time he can afford to stay in the race to pitch his message. It seems likely his donations will fall as it becomes clear he can't win.
Each point in this graph represents a state. Each point's size is proportional to the number of delegates that state is allowed to send to the Democratic presidential nominating convention, and the states that are higher on the vertical axis have a higher percentage of white and liberal voters. The red line is a local regression that shows approximately how white and liberal the Democratic electorate is at that time in the primary.
The pattern here is pretty clear Sanders is in friendly territory for the first two primaries, but the downward trend is steep and hits a low point on Super Tuesday. The primaries are a bit more white and liberal after Super Tuesday, and data is missing for a few potentially Sanders-friendly states (e.g. Maine and Washington), but it could be tough for Sanders to recover from the resounding losses he might suffer throughout March. Thats because donors, activists and primary voters like to support candidates who both share their beliefs and can win the general election. If Sanders performs poorly on Super Tuesday, he could lose any aura of electability that he gained by doing well in early contests.
Here a factish thing about ideology on the left side, too.

(42,862 posts)"I'm Bernie Sanders and I approve this message." along with the quick-talk: "This ad paid for by Bernie Sanders for President."*
Or ...
"This ad paid for by Insert PAC-Name Here and is not affiliated with the Bernie Sanders for President campaign."*
I'm guessing that radio ads are much less expensive than TV ads (both in production costs and airtime costs.) If Bernie's campaign is pulling ad-buys, it's probably the TV ads that will be the first to go. (I wonder if the radio and TV stations have any sort of penalties for cancelling contracts, or if they require 24 hour notice.)

*Of course the wording will not be the same as the examples I've given above, but I do believe that something similar is required.

Illinois, in the otehr hand, where Clinton will likely win, does count.

(4,667 posts)Bernie can't win in SC, any resources spent there would be wasted, and pretty much all the wonks agree on this. Diverting the resources to the Super Tuesday states where he has a good shot is the smart move. Also look for him to downplay SC as much as he possibly can over the next few days.
