Do we want to run a slippery centrist candidate against the GOP's centrist flim flam man?

Trump's message is going to be very similar to Clinton's. "Trust me because I know how to get things done."

They'll both be slippery-- except Trump is better at it. Many people don't trust Clinton.

This is going to be a "change" election. Trump is change. Clinton isn't.

Trump is a smart cookie. As the General Election nears he's going to moderate his tone to become more palatable to moderates, and even some liberals. He'll become a hell raising centrist in an election driven by an overall desire for "change."

He'll still, have his signatures like The Wall but he has already made that an acceptable idea.....while his even wilder stuff will fade into memory. He'll bat back his "keepout all Muslims" talk to be less overtly obnoxious, while still pandering to fear.

He'll become more liberal on social issues in a way....A more pragmatic form of Universal Health Insurance, while pointing out the aspects of Obamacare that many people are pissed about.

He's talking tough on trade. Appealing to the opposition to the effects of "Free trade" policies.

He'll be vague and nebulous, of course. It will sound populist, but it will basically be catering to Big Money and Big Bidness.

But it will sound "competant." The populist who "gets things done."

His pitch is going to resonate unless a clear alternative is offered.

In order to have any chance against the Trumpster, the Democrats have to offer a clearly Progressive form of Populism, and attack him on that basis.

I don't see Clinton as that alternative.

A Democratic centrist will do more for Democratic ideas than a Republican. Sanders will not survive the GOP vetting.

The latter is a cautious left of center candidate and the former is a right wing populist.

For any comparison to be valid we must compare like things to like things.

Both are primarily selling THEMSELVES, as "effective" solution oriented individuals, rather than representing a political ideology, neither liberal nor conservative.

Trump makes nods to conservatism and Clinton makes nods to liberalism. But they are primarily selling themselves.

And a lot of people without a political orientation will go for the guy who has made billions of dollars and is a Rockstar.

trump will have at his fingertips... all those slimy deals and secret speeches... he's self-funding remember... her sucking up to Saudi Arabia (her campaign chairman owns SA's lobbying firm in America)... her selling weapons to regimes that treat women like property... her endless flip flops, etc., etc., etc.

He hasn't even tried to go after her; the people he has tried to go after he's crushing...

She can't beat him, or any of the GOP candidates.

Some here do, and that's their right, but I disagree with them. She'll be a disaster. Conservative, Libertarian, and many Independents, will unite behind Trump for sheer star power and because they like his pugnacious attitude; or for hate/distrust of Hillary. A lot of people who would have voted for Bernie will sit the contest out because of how we've been treated.

Hillary. Cannot. Win. She's a ship that needs to be abandoned lest the country go down with it.
