For years the Republicans have argued progressives just want to redistribute the wealth from the rich to the poor ( your Robin Hood argument). There has been a redistribution of wealth going on for decades - but it has been an upward redistribution of wealth.
Wall Street, the Corporations, and Billionaires haven't gotten rich the old fashioned way - earning it through HONEST labor. They have gotten rich because they have bought and paid for the crooks in D.C.
They are allowed to raid the U.S. Treasury, treating it as their personal piggy bank (e.g., deferred tax loopholes, bailouts, no negotiation of prescription drug prices paid for my medicaid) and prey on the American People to make a dishonest buck through predatory lending, high drug prices, predatory for profit colleges, high interest rate student loans, trade agreements which have destroyed the middle class and driven millions into poverty, and on and on......
They are bankrupting local governments (hospitals, etc) through crooked interest rate swaps. But you won't hear Clinton talking about that in Michigan.
The have sold government influence to enrich themselves and their families.
Robin Hood doesn't begin to describe what is going on.
