GOP Christian Family Values Alert: Paul Ryan campaigns with Kid Rock

Michigan native Kid Rock performing in front of the confederate flag - but don't get the wrong idea.
It's not about hate - he's only celebrating his southern heritage.

---
It’s always a little jarring to see a pop culture wild child, complete with rap sheet and sex tape, talking up civic responsibility.

But Monday night as Kid Rock introduced GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan -- “a fellow hunter, a fellow fan of rock and roll” -- at Oakland University in suburban Detroit, he offered a slightly unexpected, mellow take on the election, at a moment when the political discourse is particularly poisonous.

The suburban Detroit-born rocker whose song “Born Free” has become Romney’s anthem, wore his trademark hat, brim pulled low, and was down-to-earth as he spoke for roughly five minutes, first urging people to vote (no matter whom they support) and lauding the country’s troops, whom he regularly entertains overseas in combat zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

You may know Rock, the late '90s answer to Warrant and Poison, for his wholesome family-friendly fare such as:

"Slappin you hoes with D*ck when I get drunk
From Alabama, to Texacana
Bend over b***h and let me slam a
Big fat d*ck up in your puddy, oh goody"

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/kidrock/classicrock.html

and:
Kid Rock Mother f**ker yo I ain't no f*g
I f**k b***hes dry I f**k em on the rag

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/kidrock/wcsr.html

and you can practically see Santorum, Huckabee, Robertson and all the Christian right smiling in the pews as they sing along to:
If I was president of good old USA
You know I'd turn our churches into strip clubs
And watch the whole world pray

http://www.metrolyrics.com/if-i-was-president-lyrics-kid-rock.html

Now, of course, if this was coming from a scary black musician, you can imagine Hannity would devote week upon week to it, solemnly reading aloud the offending lyrics, and then demanding of his liberal punching bags to answer "Do you stand by these lyrics? Answer the question! Yes or no?"

But we can probably expect Sean and the rest of the fetch-the-smelling-salts crowd at FOX to give Romney and Kid Rock the poutrage Common-reads-a-poem-at-the-White House treatment a week from never.

Now if it's a black hip hop artist, then it's not o.k.

BTW, here's Hannity's take on when Perez Hilton used the word Kid Rock loves to toss around:

On the April 21 edition of his Fox News show, Sean Hannity asked Miss USA runner-up Carrie Prejean: "What did you think when [blogger Perez Hilton] went on this rant and actually used the "B" word? I mean, I can't think of anything more vicious, more mean, more insulting, more degrading, just because you have a different opinion." However, as Media Matters for America has noted, on August 24, 2007, Hannity aired concert footage of rock musician and right-wing activist Ted Nugent calling then-Sen. Barack Obama a "piece of shit" and referring to then-Sen. Hillary Clinton as a "worthless bitch." After airing the clip, Hannity referred to Nugent as a "friend and frequent guest on the program."

is a disgusting human being, and his music sucks. Never understood the appeal of his music. I'm more of a Nine Inch Nails guy, though, and not everyone can appreciate Trent!

for butchering a Warren Zevon song, which, as far as I'm concerned, is a crime against humanity.

Well, he MUST be, cuz he's a Godly republican! And anyway, True Christians™ can molest children, kill someone, lie to start wars killing thousands of civilians and Godly American troops, and HOW DARE YOU PERSECUTE TRUE CHRISTIANS™?!?!?!?!

Amazing how they can always forgive anyone who toes the repig line, touts "forgiveness," yet contort their faces into horrifics when they talk about Clinton or Obama, or any other "librul." Where's that "forgiveness?" LOL.

What a fucking mess. While they deserve to get what they vote for, the rest of us don't deserve to suffer under their policies. Sometime back there was talk about making S.Carolina a "christian nation." I wish they'd just go ahead and do it, secede, take Tex-ass and Missip with them, and be done with it.

Unfortunately, however, liberals always want to help out the starving, less fortunate, etc., so we'd still be giving them aid from blue states. But it would be great to watch them carry out their fantasies and fail, yet again.

Still, we shouldn't let them back into the union, IMO.

On another note, Romney and Ryan have achieved an historic first for the party of family values and the sanctity of marriage - they now have the backing of two stars of a celebrity sex tape:

Creed's Scott Stapp and Kid Rock may have been caught on camera receiving blow jobs from groupies on a tour bus in 1999, but the Christian rocker insists they did not have sex with those women.

"Well, there's no sex on the sex tape. For it to get characterized that way, I mean, that kind of sucks," he said in an interview with Spin magazine.

Clintonian parsing notwithstanding, Stapp says things got awkward between him and his video costar after the incident.

"What sucks about that is Bob -- Kid Rock -- and I were friends," he told the magazine. "He'd been over to my house and we jammed and hung out. We were in Tampa playing with Metallica, and I walked into his trailer and there were some strippers. It's a time in his life and a time in my life that we'd like to put behind us and not publicize because we have children now, and they're in school, and their friends read. I know he was pretty pissed off at me when that came out."

Yes, yes. Jim Morrison singing about getting a hardon is acceptable, Biggy rapping about a curvy rear end is reprehensible, great double standard there, White Rocker Guy.

As for that dumb fucking flag and the dumbfucks that fly it... The south needs to just give up on this whole "the confederacy is our heritage" shit. Sorry, folks, but your cultural heritage stems from the people that confederation wanted to keep in chains. Your music, your food, your dialects, your sports and hobbies, it all comes from Africans. Yup. Every major moment of southern history? Revolves around black people (Well, them and Indians, yeah). If you want to fly flags to display your southern heritage, why not fly the Spanish flag? Spain owned most of the south for about two hundred years, which is a bit of a longer run than the confederacy ruled it.

Rock & Roll has it's roots in the old traditional music and spiritual chants of Africa.

They would prop up Master P as their "articulate black man" if he came out in favor of deregulation. They would flaunt Ke$ha to the "values voters" if she was anti-choice. But subtle irony like this is lost on their base; little inequities like a Michiganite who co-opts hip-hop and other aspects of black culture somehow embodying the remaining vestiges of Confederacy pride. I suppose it's not much further removed from P-Ry being a huge fan of Rage Against the Machine, not realizing he embodies everything about the "machine" that De La Roca and company are enraged against.
