(751 posts)Its Casino workers. They need to get back to work. Since they get register on the spot and lack of organization, lineup was way too long. So they decided to just let anyone in line without registering so they can get back to work.
They didnt say, but my thoughts are these are union workers, and heavily leaning Clinton. I saw report saying Clinton campaign was telling these workers to stay in line and they were working with the Casino owners to extend the time.

(24,411 posts)The Nevada Democratic caucus is underway but some caucus sites are experiencing computer problems and long lines.
Some caucus-goers have told 8 News NOW they are leaving the sites as a result of the delays.
8 News NOW is Your Local Election Headquarters and will be bringing you the latest results throughout the afternoon on channel 8 and LasVegasNOW.com.

(24,411 posts)Bernie-heavy precincts were relegated to small caucus sites. People cramped in a golf clubhouse!
Long lines, precincts were not adequately staffed, some university/colleges only had a couple of caucus sites and the rooms were very crowded and chaotic.
Sorry to say, but this is how some cheating happened. We'll just have to sit tight and wait. It's still very early.
We had long lines for 45 minutes at my precinct. We ran out of voter-registration forms. However, we got everyone processed eventually and everyone that wanted to caucus, got in the room. It just took longer.
Everyone who is there to caucus today, is excited and wants to participate. Most people won't leave.
Crossing fingers about all of this.

(13,059 posts)Early statewide results have it a flat out tie. This is good news for Bernie since rural areas where he is widely believed to be strongest are usually late reporters. And don't be discouraged by reports that Clinton is winning in Clark County. That was expected all along. The place to watch is Washoe County where there have been long lines and delays.

Van JOnes: Black vote is core vote for Dems. We haven't felt that love. A new dynamic where both candidates are running to AAs.

Ergo the frustration.
I don't see why people would be surprised at the wait, especially in NV which has one of the worst DMVs in the country.

(81,883 posts)Eligible Participants: Open to all registered Democrats. If you are not already registered but eligible to vote, you may complete a registration form and participate on the day of the caucus. If you will be 18 by November 8, 2016 and are otherwise eligible to vote, you may participate in the caucus.

(24,411 posts)We had lines out the door, 45 minutes AFTER the caucus was supposed to begin. We ran out of voter-registration forms. People could register to vote the day of the caucus. From what others are saying, it's the same in NV. You can show up at your caucus site, register to vote and participate in the caucus.
When we ran out of forms, the precinct chair had to leave, go to another caucus site and get additional forms.
It was a cluster for a while, but we got through it.
High turnout is a good sign. Most people are there because they really want to participate, so although this is a pain, it's not necessarily a bad thing.
(Although I don't get why this is so rampant in caucuses in 2016. In 2008, we had 240,000 participate in our Dem caucuses, record turnout. We had no problems. This year, it was mayhem, lines and lack of forms with 170,000 participants. It's bizarre that the same thing is happening in NV).
