Bernie Sanders' Ads ranked As Most Effective of the 2016 Presidential Race

An analysis from the ad-scoring outfit Ace Metrix ranked multiple political ads from Bernie Sanders’ campaign among the most effective of the 2016 presidential race so far.

Out of the 152 television and digital ads run by presidential candidates or independent super PACs since the middle of July last year, Sanders’ Dec. 28 spot, "Social Security," scored the highest aggregated total across more than half-a-dozen metrics like watchability, relevance and credibility as determined by a politically and demographically balanced panel of 500 people. Republican candidates snagged only two of the top 10 slots, a showing that could bode ill for that party’s eventual showing in November.

Of course, ad engagement isn’t the same as platform persuasiveness, but the data thus far closely tracks the results from both national polls and surveys in early voting states. For example, in addition to scoring ads according to the preferences of a representative sample of the population, Ace Metrix also broke down support by party. The most popular ad among respondents who self-identified as Republican was Ted Cruz’s "Rebuild Our Military, Kill the Terrorists" from Dec. 5, followed closely by Donald Trump’s only TV ad of the campaign, "Great Again." Those standings mirror the current state of the GOP primary in Iowa.

Another article praised the Sanders campaign's use of music only in "America" which sets a tone and contrast with the voice-over mud slinging and jingoistic ads others are running.

ETA: Anyone know what agency is doing Sanders campaign?

It's a lot harder to make a good ad for a bad product.

First rule of advertising is: Sell the Difference. And Team Bernie is nailing that, perhaps mostly because, as you point out, he IS different.

While attack ads reek of politics as usual and give people nothing to get behind. Sanders' ads mention no other candidates and lay out the issue most important to him and those who support him. I think the scores in the OP show how much people are connecting with the content of these ads.

His concern for humanity and this great country is exceptional. It's so clear Bernie loves people.

that we have at least one campaign that knows what it is doing.

They should stop saying "Bernie's not a Democrat" and be thankful that he is.

making so many Americans involved and excited about politics and the Dem. Party again. The DNC approved him to run, so saying 'he's not a Dem.' now is bull. Bernie, his campaign and supporters are doing a tremendous job, in spite of the M$M blackout, distortions and smears. I'm so glad I had a chance to see Bernie speak and meet him.

and all of it beats back the meme about "Bernie can't win." Sanders has great organization, great messaging and great ads while Team Clinton is off message and seems to think they can complain their way to the nomination.

Thanks for the rec.
