2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumColorado Dem Governor isn't sure if he'd support Bernie if he wins the Democratic nomination
Well this isn't good. Colorado is an extremely important swing state and Dem resources need to be mobilized for November.
Bernie needs to do a better job of building bridges with Democrats. So far he's only raised $1000 for Dems down ballot. By contrast, Hillary has raised $26 million.
-----
KUSA - Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper declined to say whether hed support Bernie Sanders if Sanders were to end up winning the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.
Hickenlooper is one of hundreds of Democratic superdelegates whove pledged support to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. He spoke to 9NEWS via satellite from Washington D.C. for Sundays episode of the 9NEWS political show Balance of Power.
Id have to wait and see exactly how he got to that point, Hickenlooper said.
Pressed again to address the hypothetical of a Sanders nomination, Hickenlooper fumbled a bit for an answer.
Obviously, there could be circumstances, Hickenlooper began. Well, who knows.

(1,784 posts)trap... guess that works when your candidate loses on all the issues American middle and working classes care about....

(30,439 posts)The post is about supporting Bernie if he's the nominee in November. I can commit to supporting Bernie is he's the nominee, but you can't commit to supporting Hillary if she's the nominee.
So....who's the real PUMA?
berniepdx420
(1,784 posts)that they won't vote for hillary in the GE.. so get over yourself ...why no argue the merits of issues instead.. you are taking the easy way out... good day

(15,429 posts)It is also a swing state in the GE.
This does not bode well for Sanders' chances in a GE.

(222 posts)This is a Bernie state.
I see nothing from the R side, nor from Clinton. She has absolutely no presence in Denver.
MohRokTah
(15,429 posts)No way does CO go for Sanders in a GE.
Rocky the Leprechaun
(222 posts)SE Denver, nothing. North Denver, nothing. SW Denver and its surburbs. NOT A DAMN THING. West Denver and Jeffco, nothing either.
So where's Clinton's presence?

(222 posts)Perfect marriage for Clinton.
I wouldn't trust Frackenlooper as far as I can throw him.

(4,961 posts)Pretty tacky when Sanders supporters are being asked to vote for Clinton if she wins.
But even Hickenlooper thinks his endorsement of Clinton won't mean much:
He also knows his endorsement may not be that important to Colorado voters.
"I think what matters more is what people, in the end, hear what their neighbors think," he said. "I think that carries more weight than what my endorsement is. But... most of those people haven't had a chance to sit and discuss issues with Hillary Clinton for 30 minutes or 40 minutes, and I have."

So I'm sure the Colorado voters will decide for themselves.

(28,479 posts)His long history of being in gas with the state's oil and gas industry makes a lot of Democrats and progressives dislike and distrust him from the get-go. If he really comes out against Sanders, should Sanders be the nominee, I doubt it'll make much difference with the liberal voters in the state.
