Dolores Huerta says Sanders 'wasn’t paying attention' when it came to immigration

Famed labor rights activist Dolores Huerta said that one reason that she is supporting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is because her rival Bernie Sanders has not been progressive enough when it comes to immigration reform.

“Bernie Sanders really hurt us on immigration reform,” Huerta told Fox News Latino. “In 2007 we had a great opportunity to get immigration reform passed. Sen. John McCain was at the table, Sen. Ted Kennedy was pushing that immigration reform bill and we could have gotten that bill out of the Senate and into the House and passed immigration reform.”

“Bernie Sanders came out against it,” she said. “He didn’t call me. He didn’t call all of us who have been working on immigration reform for the last 40 years. Instead, I don’t know who he listened to, but that showed me he wasn’t really paying attention.”

Sanders’ votes against Kennedy’s 2007 immigration reform bill – and his vote in favor of giving protection to the anti-immigrant Minutemen group – have been major talking points for Clinton’s surrogates as the two Democrats battle for the support of Latinos in Nevada. Clinton and Sanders are running neck-in-neck in the polls in the lead-up to Saturday’s crucial Nevada Caucus.

Sanders was paying close attention to the GOP trying to sneak in cheap labor at half the rate and not give them any rights while they took American jobs. (that's the gist)

- don't bother feigning outrage - won't work with me - I call it as I see it - i'm well aware of her background

In the 2007 vote, Hillary ducked the follow up vote
http://www.ontheissues.org/Hillary_Clinton.htm#Immigration

Opposes illegal immigration, but doesn’t vote to follow up. (Jun 2007)

but she's a staunch Latino supporter according to what she told Latinos last night and in the papers.

Sanders had a perfectly good and/or moral reasons for not going along with that legislation that had nothing to do with being against Latinos or immigration.

Hillary and her surrogate misrepresent Sanders position on immigration reform. In her 8 years in the Senate, she was only rated twice on immigration by National Hispanic Leadership Agenda at 94% average. Sanders has been rated 10 times over his 25 years in congress on immigration by National Hispanic Leadership Agenda at 94%. And they painted him like he was against immigration last night and in their advertisements. This is what we call "lying or deceiving to mislead voters to get votes" in case you haven't caught on. They're guilty as sin.

She's trying to make a mountain out of a molehill with deception. If Dolores Huerta is an active part of getting down in the mud for that delivery of deception, then she has to wear the dirt that goes along with that.

She had a comprehensive answer to that last night. This is not black and white. Most people who aren't just into scoring points understand this.
