for certain structures there are a limit to the number of investors who can invest in the fund so a manager won't want a client who is just going to invest $100k. Most minimums I see are $1m or $5m.

Also the client needs to be a qualified investor which has certain other restrictions on assets and investment experience.

this part isn't even true anymore: "they exist simply to make the rich richer".

Guess who are the main investors in hedge fund these days: pension funds and foundations.

makes it evil:

hedge fund

noun: hedge fund; plural noun: hedge funds

a limited partnership of investors that uses high risk methods, such as investing with borrowed money, in hopes of realizing large capital gains.

tell me, have you ever taken out a mortgage on a house?

That's (1) high risk (concentrated investment) (2) investing with borrowed money (3) hoping to get large capital gains.

They played a part in the crash of 2008 that HURT millions of good, hardworking Americans -- REAL people who matter.
