Conservative hubby hates the clown car candidates and prefers Sec'y Clinton to them, BUT

listening to Bernie just now he said, "he makes me want to vote for him. He sounds Presidential and like someone you can trust."

He wants to keep an open mind for Hillary's turn, but that was still a very nice thing to hear.

...and religion/spiritual matters, and sometimes not much else, but those are 2 biggies. I can't imagine it being otherwise.

That must have been a delightful moment for you. I hope there are more.

we couldn't talk about either subject without flipping out on each other. And yes, it was very nice to hear him giving Bernie a compliment like that.

conservative, I don't think I'd remained married very long.

I was married, as it happens, for some twenty-five years, and the best part was that we were on the same page politically.

I guess I'll equate it with smoking. I'm a non smoker, and I can't begin to imagine having a relationship with a smoker. Likewise, I can't imagine having a relationship with a conservative.

But to all those who are with those who are on a very different path, I admire and respect you.

this relationship has been fraught with tension over the years, but as we have both grown and mellowed in our old age we now enjoy talking politics more. We are constantly messaging the latest crazy talk from Trump and LePage to each other. LOL

they don't turn up in the media all that much compared to the neocon and religious sort.

I married into a charismatic evangelical family, but along with being very faith-oriented hubby is very bright and likes to watch Rachel, Colbert, and the Daily Show with me and listens to NPR and AL Jazeera America more often than Limbaugh. Unlike his family, he is not a single issue voter and looks more at the big picture.

Now if I can just get my little bro, who likes Trump for shaking up DC, to give Bernie a serious listen!

They both don't believe Hillary will do anything for them either, and have studied her foreign policy to the point that they don't want me in the military if Hillary gets in.
