New Pew poll has Romney gaining 7% more of the African American vote after the debate. (Original Post) phleshdef Oct 2012 OP
Speaking as an AA, I'd like to know who these people are. This has a certain "stench" to it. nt Tarheel_Dem Oct 2012 #1

Right, thats true. But even still, I don't think Romney was carrying 12% of the AA vote at anytime. phleshdef Oct 2012 #9

Well wasn't be at zero? 93-7 doesn't seem that implausible. dkf Oct 2012 #7
This poll has it 88-12. phleshdef Oct 2012 #8
Now that is definitely off. 93-7 is plausible, but not 88-12. Not Romney. anneboleyn Oct 2012 #18

.... I don't buy this poll at all. Romney did nothing to gain support from A.A. by his
performance @ the debate.

People need to factor in MOE, which is generally higher among sub-groups because you're dealing with smaller numbers. So, while a shift, it could just be noise ... or less pronounced than it appears. It's clear Romney gained across the board, so, it's not hard to imagine him pulling a few black supporters away from Obama. People get too caught up on the demographics and ignore the overall number ... which is generally correct. I believe Romney is leading in this poll.

And I think they are honest about the way they find it.

I just don't think what they found there is accurate to what we will see on election day.

Clearly voters judged Obama very harshly becauase of his debate performance and some changed their voting preferences based on it. Gallup and Rasmussen say Obama is rebounding, Pew and PPP say Obama now in very big trouble because of debate. At any rate, I think Dems should demand Obama clear his schedule and do debate prep nearly 24/7 now. His upcoming performances likely will decide the election.

It's the framing of the debate by the MSM that shapes most people's opinions. Everyone waits for somebody to tell them how they should feel about the debate and Obama got creamed by the reviews.

No I do not believe that. Just from a debate performance? Something smells rotten here.

Granted almost everyone I know is a Democrat/liberal/progressive etc., but I get the sense that the Republicans are hated for all of the racial stuff they have pulled and are very unlikely to persuade many Black voters to cross over.
