EVAN MCMORRIS-SANTORO 3:39 PM EDT, MONDAY OCTOBER 8, 2012
The National Rife Association endorsed Rep. Todd Akin's (R) bid for Senate in Missouri Monday. Akin's voting history in Congress has earned him an "A" grade from the group, while Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) has an "F."
The choice is clear in this election," Chris Cox, the NRA's chief lobbyist, said in a statement. "Todd Akin will support our Second Amendment freedoms and hunting heritage. Claire McCaskill will not."
The NRA is the latest national group to throw its weight behind Akin, who polls show is struggling in his race against McCaskill. Akin welcomed the NRA's backing.
In a statement, he said the endorsment "shows that my record is in step with most Missourians."

This news story doesn't jibe with their Talking Points that "gun rights are Progressive!" and "gun control is a republican idea!" (both of which I see repeated ad infinitum in the Gungeon)

(26,001 posts)9. Well, they've always been well-trained in NRA talking points, when dispatched to sites like this
However, they do tend to get cricket-y when up against an actual news item about the NRA, which reveals the organization in all its true glory...

kinda hard to rev up the right wing base of the NRA when no democrats have
taken anyone's guns away... EVER.
