4. Pew's poll was front-end loaded

Most of the polling was in the 2-3 days immediately after the debate, before the job and deficit news hit. They only polled 15% on Sunday (confirmed by Nate Silver) which was when the other daily tracking polls showed the flattening and drop. Nate Silver discounts the skew, but I can't help but think that the heavy southern tilt and large number of seniors impacted it as well.

So I think of Pew as an outlier that the media grabbed onto to push their horse race advertising.
