(643 posts)And issues are what we should be discussing, not sound bites about someone being a one topic candidate. Gay marriage is an issue (one that you flopped on, per politifact). The Iraq war is an issue. You may be tired of it, but as long as you tout your foreign policy "strength" you must answer for it and the power vacuum that it created, as Sanders predicted.

view several different times within the course of a day, let alone a year.
All it really requires to create such a reality, is to not to actually hold any belief in any stance on issues at all, but rather to form them as needed, for whomever is in the room or election at the time, and finally, identity politics that provide supporters gullible enough to either not care that ever changing views are proof of not actually holding consistent or true views at all, but rather proof of the one that is the identity of those identity politics to continue "view plasticity" until the bitter end and that do hold views but not the ones expressed.
There is something called Neuroplasticity, it allows the brain to change as necessary in order to adapt and survive, it is even such a powerful attribute of the brain that after parts of it are damaged beyond repair, other parts can change function and replace the job of the damaged ones.
What we see with Hillary is realityplasticity, the ability to change her beliefs at will in order to adapt to what a group of people tell her that those beliefs should be if she is to win votes.
She literally has the ability to change the world, or rather her world beliefs on a dime and seemingly with little to no effort.
Her ability to change her reality is quite impressive and a valuable asset to the modern day politician, but the gift is also a curse in that once it is recognized, in is impossible for an objective person (or voter) to truly believe in her changing realities, it also strengthens opinions that such a reality shifter is really not gifted at all, but merely an unapologetically deceptive liar.

(2,872 posts)"To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.
The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth."
