A question for Sec. Clinton Supporters?

I do not know how Sec. Clinton has a chance of winning the general.

It's and honest question, I am not going to list all the reasons why I think she will not win. (I dont want this to be another flamebait thread)

I truly cannot figure it out.

Before I get the but how will Sen Sanders win, the right is going to kill him with attack ads. I think he will have a hard time, but I dont think the Socialist attacks will be that effective for two reasons. 1. Anyone who wont vote for a Socialist already vote Republican, they ran that line against Pres. Obama over and over. 2. Between the two Democratic candidates Sen. Sanders is the one growing the party (maybe not as much Pres. Obama had by now). Sen. Sanders is getting a lot of Independents and Young people to vote for him, both groups are not guaranteed to stay with Democrats in the GE . If Sec. Clinton's supporters come over in the general, I think we have a real shot.

So, my hope is you do not see this as a Sec. Clinton "hit" thread. It is an honest question because I am just completely lost on what her supporters are seeing as a path to victory, when the GE starts.

What is that path that you are seeing?

As a Sanders supporter I acknowledge that I could be biased, but I don't see the Clinton base as particularly fired up. It's subjective, I know. And there is so much gop hate for Clinton that I imagine their base will be fired up and vote just to make sure that she doesn't get the presidency.

I too could list the reasons (based on actual issues) why I don't see her winning if any Clinton supporters need a list, but simply looking at who fires up the base and who doesn't, it's clear there is big challenge if Clinton gets the nomination.

...and if nominated will be running against a craven ideologue with a mean, stupid agenda and little experience on the national stage. Polls may not yet show it, but she knows how to campaign.

That's how she would win.

but they can both lose also. Currently it depends more on what happens with the Republicans and specifically with Trump. If Trump wins the nomination or alternately, runs as a third party, the Republicans lose. The Republicans need the evangelical vote and it is simply not inspired by Trump enough to get out in the numbers they need if he is nominated. Traditional republicans (non-teaparty) will also not be inspired to come out in the numbers needed. If Trump runs as a third party, he will split the vote such that no amount of voter manipulation and fraud will be able to save the party.

But if Trump does not win the nomination and does not run as a third party, all bets are off. The Republican machine will be put into full gear and their task will be little different and just as effective regardless of whether Clinton or Sanders is their opponent. It then comes down to who can inspire the most Democrats to actually get out and vote. Is that Clinton or Sanders? My fear is that if Sanders gets the nomination, there are far too many Clinton supporters who will stay home and not vote, not because they are against anything Sanders stands for, but because they really thought it was "Hillary's time", and will let their disappointment stand in the way of their good judgement. If Clinton wins the nomination, I don't think she has the ability to inspire a significant number of the Sander's supporters who had given up on the political process so they will simply fade back into the woodwork convinced their vote will be meaningless. Sander's is bringing people into the process who had given up on it. Clinton can only win if she can somehow keep those people on board and nothing she has done gives me any indication she can do that or is even willing to try in a meaningful way. Clinton can win only if she can show that if she is elected that it will not simply be "business as usual" and Sanders can win if Clinton supporters can get past the idea that Sanders had the gall to run.

in Preidential elections. The demographics are getting worse and worse for the GOP every 4 years.

How does the GOP climb from where they were 4 years ago to 270? In an environment where they're running on xenophobia, I don't see it.
