2016 Postmortem

I just read a post where someone suggested that the RNC should try to convince Romney or Ryan to run instead of letting the Trumpster be their nominee. My question is: Aren't all state ballots now closed to getting someone else on them? If no one else can get listed on a primary ballot, what chance would they have? For the General I guess they could always run as third party, but wouldn't that be counter productive?

In case we can't have that one, I'd say that Romney or Ryan have only one thin chance -- a Convention in July that begins in unspeakable chaos, prompting delegates to rip themselves away from Cruz and Trump and support Willard or Ryan.
Other than that, I'm not seeing any chance for the GOP to put any halfway electable person on their ticket. Jeb is still technically in the race but the polling from South Carolina suggests that he isn't going to be once that primary's results begin to roll in. If y'all want one of his turtles, better git one while the gittin's good.
I don't know why Bloomberg thinks he would draw significant support. A lot of voters have never heard of him. Those who have consider him a marginal presence in the national life. Of those who have followed politics closely since his mayoral days, there's likely a significant percentage who don't care for him much. If bread is toast before it even goes in the toaster, it must be breakfast time at Mike Bloomberg's place.
