Most earners are concerned about *median* taxation. Rich are concerned about *average* taxes.

There are a lot of discussions around comparisons of other countries here that do not make this distinction.

The media (and wealthy interests) like to confuse people with "average" statistics, which when you are talking about countries with progressive taxation are not really nearly as relevant as median.

I am sure there will be far more discussion this year of "averages". Well, when talking progressive taxation issues, with the wealthy making so very much more than the rest, an average tax increase may hit the wealthy at 15% and the the median at 1/3 of that.

Something that might be good to keep in mind and in discussions here...
