It happened when Hillary was talking about the South American children that were sent by their parents to America by smugglers, she said we sent the kids home to "teach them a lesson that it's too dangerous"
She thought it was a slap in the face of those parents who risked their childrens lives on that horrific journey. My daughter was quick to yell at the television: They ultimately made the decision to send their precious children away because they faced almost certain death at home not because they had other options. If only she could have yelled it from the seats taken by hand picked Clinton supporters there to give the illusion of approval.
Even as she shouted, Bernie responded "What lesson? They are children who faced death. You don't need to teach them a lesson you welcome them and care for them"

(13,685 posts)She showed no regard for the little children and what they are going thru.
Bernie scored big points with his concern.

(6,409 posts)We should teach those parents a real lesson! Execute the children immediately. Sell them into slavery. Grind them up and bake them into muffins for the next Tea Party convention. Better yet, rent them out to perverts before we execute them.

Edit to add:

(6,409 posts)I forgot. One must be tough to be CiC. And how does one demonstrate such toughness? I wish I knew. Maybe I could run for president. I just don't have the guts to send kids back to be killed by death squads. God, I am SUCH a weenie! I hate myself.

(1,052 posts)Well, Hillary, in my family, we dont care if its a choice between you and Satan in red horns and a pitchfork, wed vote for the pitchfork, Fuck YOU.
Let's see -- 1. Soulless Heartless Creep, 2. Red Horns and a Pitchfork, or 3. Welcoming Caring Grandfather -- hmm . . . OK, I've made my choice!

(869 posts)you are just another man among many men putting words in your daughters (or other female relative's mouth) for some sort of personal gain...but I can't see what it is...because other women are turned off by stories like these all over the internet where male relatives claim to be representing the opinions of their female relatives....they all seem to have not received the news bulletin that on political issues women can speak for themselves....if your purpose is to win any women over you fail because you turn them off...if it's to brown beat or bully they just ignore.you may win over gullible men who are already won over because they are misogynist (birds of a feather flock together) who cares?....NEXT....

(18,133 posts)and since when is a parent not permitted to discuss their child? especially when their deeds and choices make that parent proud?
do you have children? i'm guessing no
mgmaggiemg
(869 posts)each case is different...I am pro path to citizenship/dreamers but the references that clinton was making was about children who's parents or parent were still back at home (ie unaccompanied minor...no relative in the states and questionable as to whether they are fleeing war or just going to a better education and job market....)...so it was a sensational piece not a factual one....a male relative (parent or not) putting words in the mouths of female relatives and most likely misrepresenting the opinions of those female relatives...for what purpose the writer may not even be aware...if a male parent/relative is proud let the female child/relative express their own opinions and not be silenced by way of someone speaking for them.....women don't do this (or rarely so) however men do it so frequently on the political sites that women just disregard the posters comments as not credible.....you asked I answered Cheers, Maggie

(18,133 posts)also not sure about the mothers rarely do the same thing. i know plenty of women who often (some too often) brag about their kids or grandkids
oh yeah... do you have kids?
mgmaggiemg
(869 posts)poster ragging on politician he doesn't like using child as "beard" (facade) that's different than talking about your child...which you should not do in general anyway and certainly not w/o their permission...

(869 posts)that has an opinion...they are perfectly capable of expressing it themselves when they wish instead of using a beard...why not just post the opinions as your own...which in fact they are...and use the pronoun "I" instead of he/she/they because we all know you are speaking for yourself anyway....this way others don't perceive you as misrepresenting others while hiding behind them to express your opinions...it's a political site for political opinions...there's no need....
i get it
i also get that in some families people establish different boundaries between members than in other families. found that one out the hard way with my wife and her sisters early on

(869 posts)I am not saying "don't do it" because I don't have that authority...however as there are many women who have been on the internet for years....I am telling you what women think when men do...use a beard...they disregard the opinion.... I might say my mom is cheering for Trump (because she is....) but that's all I will say...I won't express an opinion for her...I might express my opinion of her choice (a vote for trump is a vote for the dems) fine by me... I mean she's got horrible taste in men what can I say...? this is humor....

(3,411 posts)or putting words in their kid's mouth when they are speaking of something that their kids said? Because it's something negative about your candidate? If they raved about the glories of Clinton as president, it would be okay to repeat it?
I know when one of my daughters say, for example, 'No more Clintons in the WH' - and back it up with facts like OP's kid did - I'm proud that they are making a statement that shows some perfectly fine reasoning!
And furthermore, no one has the right to tell me that I'm a liar or a coward (beard/hiding) if I post about it on a board. Political or otherwise. That's offensive as hell.
My daughters and grandson have no problem when I brag on them here. They are adults. They know about it. Then step in and lurk to see what Mom (yes, moms do it too!) is up to once in a while. It's up to them to say no, not some stranger that thinks they are scoring points by calling me a liar or using them as a beard.
Because I am also perfectly capable of expressing my opinion myself. See how that works?
Using the pronoun "I" no less!
I am not saying you can't because I am nobody's boss, I am not calling you a liar I am saying the reader has no idea if you are misrepresenting child/relatives opinions...so reader is left to disregard opinion ...or take it with a grain of salt as opposed to GOD's truth.....myself because I see so much of this....I am inclined to disregard the opinion....after all opinions are just opinions....what are they worth really? however if someone is speaking for him/herself.....more likely to regard the post as something the poster believes to be true....

(3,411 posts)"the point is you are just another man among many men putting words in your daughters (or other female relative's mouth) for some sort of personal gain."
That's calling them a liar.
"because other women are turned off by stories like these all over the internet where male relatives claim to be representing the opinions of their female relatives"
I'm a woman. It's not a common reaction for women to assume men are lying when they talk about their female relatives/daughters speaking up like the OP did. And I pity you if that's the view you have of men. Yeah, some men suck. But so do some women.
".if your purpose is to win any women over you fail because you turn them off...if it's to brown beat or bully they just ignore.you may win over gullible men who are already won over because they are misogynist (birds of a feather flock together)"
Misogynist? Really? Because I'm thinking a better word for you to take a look at might be misandrist.
"a male relative (parent or not) putting words in the mouths of female relatives and most likely misrepresenting the opinions of those female relatives"
".if a male parent/relative is proud let the female child/relative express their own opinions and not be silenced by way of someone speaking for them.....women don't do this (or rarely so) however men do it so frequently on the political sites that women just disregard the posters comments as not credible"
Again, this is such a warped view of men. I just can't think of what it is like to live in that mindset. And I have been called a ballbuster, with good reason. I don't take shit from anyone, male or not - but, jeebus that's a dark place to be.
And, again, that's calling them a liar.
"poster not bragging about his child poster ragging on politician he doesn't like using child as "beard" (facade)"
Yep. Liar. And coward ("beard" .
OP is clearly bragging, the same as I and many women do when their kids flex their political accumen. I think the problem here is the politician denounced is not to your liking.
"they are perfectly capable of expressing it themselves when they wish instead of using a beard...why not just post the opinions as your own...which in fact they are ... and use the pronoun "I" instead of he/she/they because we all know you are speaking for yourself anyway....this way others don't perceive you as misrepresenting others while hiding behind them to express your opinions."
Liar six ways from Sunday. And coward ("beard" .
"I might say my mom is cheering for Trump (because she is....) I mean she's got horrible taste in men what can I say...?"
Humor it might be, or we may have a peek at the problem.
All of this because a proud parent bragged on their daughter.
Sad. And offensive. And as you said, "there's no need".

(869 posts)I talk about my republican brother who is voting for HRC this time because he likes the ACA and he's got two kids in college....but that's all I say...just that he's a republican voting dem for the ACA...I find candidates that are disliked by the gop, the media, washington, corporations attractive...so I like HRC because she is the most disliked by congress....by the GOP...she also has the support to make sure the GOP doesn't get in the white house....she stands up to them...Bernie does not...fight the GOP but his supporters sure dislike HRC....which just makes her a more attractive candidate for the whitehouse...HRC is kicking GOP but...all bernie supporters do is rag on HRC...because they can't stand up to the GoP....

(13,390 posts)When I hear things like "teach them a lesson," "brought to heel," "we came, we saw, he died" (with no remorse for the other casualties), that "deserving citizens" language, I find it chilling that I am instantly reminded of The Third Man
"Would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stopped moving forever? If I offered you twenty thousand pounds for every dot that stopped, would you really, old man, tell me to keep my money, or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare? Free of income tax, old man. Free of income tax - the only way you can save money nowadays."
The calculation of the dots as colatoral damage to support ruthless political ambitions is an adoption of the craven money monger model.

(18,133 posts)much of the GOP does similarly, but often either outright hate and/or a sense of superiority - it's more understandable because those are human feelings we all have some experience with and understanding of
with Hillary it's more caculated and calibrated and that's less understandable to me

(13,452 posts)That's from watching the video.
Beyond the video, what idiot would rather send their kids and our kids to an unnecessary war in order to not vote for someone who talks concern for the emigrants and outlines checking on their situation first before sending them back.
Idiocy on top of more idiocy.

Oh, and I am an old white woman; my 20 YO grandson supports Bernie, he just re-registered as Dem so he can vote for him in March. I had nothing to do with his supporting Bernie. I am still astonished that he has taken such an interest in politics. I do think it smacks of sexism to imply that a man must have put words in his daughter's mouth, influenced her to be against Hillary, as if being female and not for Hillary was some sort of aberration.
