Bernie introduced a bill of his own in June 2015 called the Guaranteed Paid Vacation Act, which would provide 10 days of paid time off to anyone whos worked for over a year at a business that employs at least 15 people.

(52,162 posts)something that even a cursory knowledge of history or God forbid a google search would have told you. It was a meeting of the national governor's association which Clinton was attending as governor but don't dare let facts get in the way of a good smear.

(11,014 posts)he remains a foremost authority on geopolitical dynamics and how the chess game is played in national interest.
I think his Chilean and Central American and Southern European endeavors were despicable but don't forget that he was the architect of "detente."
Detente created stability and fear of a nuclear holocaust was made non-existent. The whole world was able to breathe easily because of detente.
One can seek advice from such authorities whether one agrees with them or not. In "silence of the lambs", Hannibal Lecter helped the FBI catch a murderer.
I prefer to not see people as either/or ... we all have made colossal mistakes in some areas while we have excelled in other areas. No one should be judged solely on the basis of the mistakes or solely on the basis of successes.

(4,213 posts)"The actual Kissinger policy, to abandon South Vietnam to its enemies could have been carried out four years earlier with Camboida still intact, and with something like a million people alive, including some 20,000 Americans, who were dead when Kissinger and Nixon finally left office. The result for Viet Nam, Cambodia and Laos could not possibly have been worse than what actually happened."
It is indefensible to defend this man.

I guess the Berghof would be a great place for a get together.

(11,014 posts)and I don't agree with many of them, some not at all.
Meeting many people is a learning exercise -- what worked and what didn't.
Guilt by association is not ok. Especially on a democratic board. Just because Kissinger bombed Cambodia doesn't mean he NOW thinks it was a good idea and definitely doesn't mean that Hillary thinks that was a good idea.
Ichingcarpenter
(36,988 posts)but not a learning experience of any value.

(11,014 posts)that carpet bombing of a country does not work. Is it not a learning experience to know and understand the limits of American power and the disastrous consequences?
There is no spin. Any university in the world would hire Kissinger as a professor in a heartbeat. He has a LOT to teach.
You can vilify him for political purposes because it suits Bernie's narrative but Kissinger is a gray character -- not entirely vile. He has a lot to teach.

Iran/Contra was about the CIA cocaine trade too and guess who was running that operation? It wasn't Reagan it was Bush
VP GHW Bush was in charge of this activity when Clinton went to Maine in this 1983 picture.
