"The Story of How the Democrats Saved the Ball of Wax"

NOTE: This has bearing on the Primaries because I think it reflects the attitudes of hoping for incremental change by offering a centrist approach as opposed to staying tough.

An Instructive Tale in the Art of Politics by a DU'er (not me)

Once upon a time there was a Democrat and a Republican. They lived together in a great house and in that house was a Ball of Wax. The neighbors knew that the Wax Ball would melt away in the sun if it was not soon put into a cool place away from the sun and they needed it to help mend their houses.

The Democrat thought himself to be a fair and reasonable person, but he was quite defensive because his friend, the Republican, made it a practice to complain loudly to the neighborhood that the Democrat was greedy and selfish.

"What should we do with this Ball of Wax?" the Democrat asked expectantly?

"Give the whole thing to me," said the Republican.

"Oh, gee, how about half the ball of wax?" replied the Democrat, thinking that a fair solution.

"Waah! You're not being bipartisan! You're divisive! I'm going to the neighbors right now and tell them about how you only think of yourself!", said the Republican.

"But don't you care that people will suffer if we give you the whole ball of wax? What if not everyone gets it?"

"There you go being hateful! You far-left radicals have no shame!"

"OK, OK, how about 3/4 of the ball of wax?", pleaded the Democrat.

"Now you're talking!", said the Republican, grinning inside.

Later that day, Democratic went on TV to brag to the neighborhood about saving the ball of wax.

And so it goes.
