Pundits and politicians still don't understand the power of We

magnified and powered by social media. Granted it's really only come into its own over the past few years, but wake up folks. Actually, forget that. Keep slumbering.

Our power is concentrated and distilled on social media, where many voices can become one or one voice can speak for many, where through combining our small donations we can compete with the big money representing special interests, where we can organize and create.

It amazes me that so many politicians and pundits still don't understand that we don't live in the 24 hour news cycle anymore. Social media has changed that forever.

And that is a revolution in and of itself.

A communication revolution.

Identity politics is inherently about the candidate. jeff47 Feb 2016 #11

The pundits, as always, happily followed the Republican framing.

"I will _____". "___ is due to me". "I am the one to continue ______". "I will stop ______". "I'm not like ____ and you don't want to be like ____ either!"

The discussion becomes framed around the candidate themselves, instead of the policies that they want to enact. So Dukakis "looks silly in a tank" instead of talking about any of the policies he proposes.

The Republicans turned to it because their odious policies were problematic on their face. But a brush-clearin' cowboy or a movie star are cool.

Pundits happily followed this path. That way they didn't have to do boring things like look at statistics. Instead, they could go to movies and dinner parties, and otherwise just pontificate on which person "everyone" likes the most and what "everyone knows" about people who do not attend those dinner parties.

on corruption and where I find the most irony...an unintended consequence on their part.

They seem to believe that enough of us believe what they're saying. Whether Sanders wins or not,
it will be telling how he loses, as well as how he wins, if he succeeds.

But they're dreaming if they think this will all pass and the status quo will continue unabated,
cleaning house will be the mandate of the people if Hillary or a Republican wins the WH.
