Debate adjustments - what, how and why?

Obviously, President Obama will adjust his debate strategy, on all fronts. I think just as obviously he will be careful not to go too far the other way - compensate-aggressive. He will stay in character. That will frustrate some, because while he can be witty and icy, he's not a smash-face person.

Romney is. But he will also adjust his strategy. He knows he can't run the same play twice. (Unless the defensive line is incompetent, it's not a good idea to run straight up the gut twice, thrice in a row.) But what adjustments will he make? He cannot change his personality and he will try to anticipate Obama's changes. I wonder what the wise folk at DU think that will be. What would be Romney's best game-plan for debate #2 - and of course, Obama's counter.

Assume the VP debate as either meaningless or a (small) victory for Biden.

Looking forward to your thoughts.
