2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGo ahead, use those bells and whistles. Doesn't make up for a lack of message.
I was struck by the effort to show Hillary in a better light last night. From her appearance to the pre-selected pro-Hillary crowd, it might have been enough to stand out and overshadow her opponent.
But still, Hillary came up flat with her message. It now seems to be a mixture of agreeing with Sanders (and using "we" , to literally ripping off Obama's coattails, then back to "me me me", then her hawkish foreign policy.
Hillary definitely does best when talking foreign policy, and that topic seems to excite her the most. The problem with that is that she sounds an awful lot like the crazies across the aisle. She continued to defend her Iraq war vote and her association with Kissinger. She refused to acknowledge that her involvement with overthrowing Gaddhafi is partly to blame for the creation of that terrorist group I won't name. She is in agreement with Netanyahu, and I doubt she'll be inclined to continue working with Iran.
So nothing changed after last night's debate. Hillary's message was much the same, even if she tried to be a little more populist. Bells and whistles to no avail.

.who WAS in the audience? Beats me. Certainly not activists or ordinary citizens. I suspect they were State Party loyalists and hangers-on."
