Romney backtracks on 47% comments 17 days later.

... SNIP ...

FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has described his disparaging remarks about the 47 percent of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes as "not elegantly stated." Now he's calling them "just completely wrong."

Romney had contended that nearly half of Americans consider themselves "victims" and are dependent on government.

Romney responded that sometimes in campaigning something doesn't come out right and that, quote, "In this case, I said something that's just completely wrong."

and will state so in the voting booth.

No amount of cheating or voter sheningans will save Rmoney's life and will be shortly indicted for tax evasion along with his buddy Sheldon Adelson.

He probably had some clever zinger ready to try to make it a non-issue and now he can't deal with it in front of a huge national audience.

Mittens was almost certainly all ready with a zinger, just waiting for a 47% comment from Obama. And Obama knew that. So he didn't give him the opening.

So Mittens has resorted to this incredibly lame attempted reversal: "Yes, I know that a few weeks ago I explained at considerable length during a private event that 47% of the U.S. population consists of non-taxpaying, dependent freeloaders, but guess what, that's just totally wrong."

Nice try, Mittens. Nice try.

9. Obama needs to bring it up in the next 2 debates

He shouldn't worry about what Romney's response would have been. Romney has no justifiable answer for talking like that about the American people behind closed doors.

In the next 2 debates, Obama needs to tell the audience that "It's one thing for Mitt to say all these nice things about you in public when he's on his best behavior on stage in front of everyone, but I'm concerned about what he says about you behind closed doors."

He was against the 47% before he was for them. Yeah, that'll work.

he really wants to be president.

I didn't think he'd swallow his pride and admit a "mistake".

His advisors have probably been harassing him for 17 straight days to make an apology.
