2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt isn't Hillary hate..it is that the Third Way-New Democrat-DLC has failed us..
Yes, I peddled "Putting People First" when Bill Clinton first ran for President. And listening to him, I thought he was wonderful..he still has his selling "snow to the eskimos" skills even today...at least when he isn't so angry..that some of us would reject what Hillary is selling. It took me a few years to wake up that Bill was just another lesser of evils. That his robust economy had a less than silver lining for the future. I recall rooting for Al Gore when he debated with Perot on NAFTA..now I know Perot was correct and that free trade planted the seeds of destruction for the economic well being of the masses (enough with all this "middle class" verbage) it's the masses that are screwed. Then, the we need to be nice to Wall Street and corporations crap. Then the OMG ...we might be called "tax and spend" liberals..threats...
For thirty five years, the New Dems have threatened us with the spectre of McGovern, Mondale, and that progressivism won't win elections. They said the progressive words at election time, or told us we have nowhere else to go. or Rahm called us retarded. And now we are told we need pragmatic, "realistic" Hillary or else we get the Big Bad Republicans.. Progressive words or pledges for the primaries are not enough...
We don't hate Hillary. But she is the candidate of the Third Way, the New Democrats, the whole Democrats for the Leisure Class legacy. We hate the sucking up to Wall Street, the Walton's tax payer subsidized wealth, the destruction of the three legged retirement stool, the threats against Social Security the last leg millions of us will have to cling to, the free trade service sector jobs with no security, few benefits, crappy pay...etc etc.
It's over!! We will no longer be told or have it insinuated that we have nowhere else to go. All this stuff about the establishment endorsements for Hillary, the super delegates, that we're fools going after fantasy and unicorns..that in the end it's the lesser of two evils...it makes us feel the Bern even more!
We don't hate Hillary!! If you simply think that you are missing the point. We hate what we perceive the Democratic Party has become in the past thirty five years and want to change it. And many of us are done with the bill of goods we have been sold and are going back to our New Deal progressive souls. We're going to fight for Bernie to the end!
This isn't just a campaign. It seeks to be a political revolution. And guess what status quo? It's a REBELLION!

(149,699 posts)Exactly right!
It's funny. Somehow, millions of us came to the same conclusion all at pretty much the same time. Our group decision has given Bernie's revolution legs.
There's power in our group decision, and this power is the thing that scares the powers that be. They see that now we understand what's been done to us and what's happening to our beloved country.........
And guess what?
We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more.
We are done with holding our noses to vote for the person we've been told is The One.
It's very liberating!

(4,186 posts)I don't have the nerve to rant often. But I think the Clinton campaign is trying to blow enough smoke to distract from the Hillary and Wall Street narrative and the real issues. Because I think they know that if we are honest about the issues and Hillary's true positions..they will lose.

(2,161 posts)Bernie has provided the key, and we're not going to stay in the prison built for us by the 1% with the collusion of both political parties.
It does not work for a political party that says it stands for working people to be funded by the billionaires and corporate interests. What we have is NO party representing working people.
Bernie's campaign funding by ordinary people at $27 each is EVERYTHING.
