SC superdelegate who had backed O'Malley switches to Clinton
A South Carolina superdelegate who had backed Martin O'Malley says he's supporting Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
Boyd Brown told The Associated Press on Wednesday he was courted by both Bernie Sanders and Clinton after O'Malley's departure from the race following a poor showing in Iowa.
Last week, the former House lawmaker said he might even look outside the Democratic party, saying he couldn't back Sanders because of his socialist-leaning views or Clinton because of what he called her lack of "core values."
But Wednesday, Brown said he had opted ultimately to back Clinton because she is the only candidate "with realistic solutions" and experience.
Democratic superdelegates can support the candidate of their choice at the party's national convention, regardless of whom voters choose in primaries and caucuses.
