2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf you think either Hillary or Sanders will be treated any differently by this congress...
....you're fooling yourself. Especially Hillary since she has the "no penis to keep her brain in" problem, according to our American Taliban (GOP) overlords. "How is Sanders going to get any of his Unicorn promises accomplished?", I keep hearing. And I keep thinking: "Well, for that matter, how is Hillary going to get a damn thing done with this "too lazy to work" CONgress?"
Answer: Unless Congress changes substantially, unless people get off their dead asses and VOTE every chance they get and particularly in 2016, neither Sanders or Clinton will get a damn thing through the racist backlash-driven iron wall our American Taliban overlords have erected against the President. After all it worked so well against "the black guy". They have virtually obstructed him since moment one of his Presidency and they're still doing it and they will continue doing it until they have another Dem President to obstruct. Ya think they won't do the same to the "wo-man" or the "socialist"? They WILL.
IOW, that argument is DOA. INVALID. Find another one.
Now, the article....
As MSNBC pointed out on Feb. 9, it's been commonplace since the 1970s for the Office of Management and Budget Director to deliver the budget in full to Congress. The House and Senate typically sets up a hearing in Congress, as both sides make their case for or against the proposal.
Backlash begins
House Budget Chairman Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) commented on the budget and the GOP refusing to hold a hearing, calling the proposal a "double down on the same failed policies." Price continued, suggesting that Congress work on a budget that would improve the economic outlook for the future, citing the last seven years as "the worst economic recovery in modern times." House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan also made his voice heard, referring to Obama's budget as a "progressive manual for growing the federal government," writing it off as dead on arrival.
In response, congressional Democrats blasted Republicans for their actions. Referring to the GOP as being overcome with "corrosive radicalism," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Price "unworthy" of being in the U.S. Congress. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) also responded with anger in a letter to Price. Pointing out the history of "bipartisan tradition" in Congress in regards to presidential budget proposals, Van Hollen called the GOP response "disrespectful" to the president and the American people.
