Jay Carney: Obama supports Hillary Clinton

http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/10/politics/jay-carney-president-obama-supports-hillary-clinton/index.html

President Barack Obama's former White House press secretary says the President has a preference in the Democratic primary to replace him: Hillary Clinton.

Obama has maintained neutrality in the primary and recently met with Clinton's opponent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, at the White House. Still, his comments on the race have seemed to favor his former secretary of state, if only slightly.

Jay Carney told CNN's Brooke Baldwin on Wednesday that's no accident -- and the President does want Clinton to win.

even true, second-hand to voters.
Thr preslident did not give that impression to Bernie when they met.

Just read the transcript of his Illinois General Assembly speech and I think it's probably true, and that President Obama likely set this up with Jay Carney as a tacit, plausibly deniable endorsement of Clinton.

Not 100% convinced, but this is my feeling. Catch Ben Jealous' latest interview with Rachel Maddow to hear what a true progressive sounds like. Also Nina Turner.

'A true progressive'. That term has its own power and discernment.

To me, President Obama has been sounding a bit like a former president since at least the time he was intimidated (hoodwinked?) into burying the Public Option like the talents in the parable.

His Illinois speech is actually beautiful and exceptional. An encore to his final SOTU. (Maybe he'd rather be the pope than the president, as the song goes.)

But he will not articulate how the corruption works with the courageous granularity required. Especially not now, in the fierce urgency of the lead-up to South Carolina primary. To quote Bernie from one of the debates, "Not good enough".

PS. I imagine Michelle wants Bernie to be the nominee.

"I think he is maintaining that tradition of not intervening in a party primary," he added.

Carney just intervened by going public with this. So much for following tradition. And you know Carney wouldn't have opened his mouth without permission from Obama.
