"Hey Black & Latino voters, Did YOU get the Hillary memo?"

Hillary Relying On Minority Voters, But They're Not All Relying On Her

"Hey Black & Latino voters, Did YOU get the Hillary memo asking you to save her campaign?"

by Alana Horowitz Satlin

Hillary Clinton may be counting on support from black and Latino voters to score the Democratic presidential nomination, but not everyone's on board with that plan.

A memo to Clinton supporters, sent by campaign manager Robby Mook, outlined her path to victory. Her campaign will soar in March, he predicted, and her favorability among minorities will hand her the win.

.....snip.......

@politicoroger tell hillary we are not her firewall we know it's not about Obama legacy it 3rd term Clinton presidency

Hey Black & Latino voters,

Did YOU get the Hillary memo asking you to save her campaign?

I'm just curious. https://t.co/oDwqHhLD5b

— Shaun King (@ShaunKing) February 10, 2016

Hillary Clinton just sent out a 3 page memo on how she plans 2 get the black vote, she shld try Private Prisons she's filled them w/plenty

— GAPeach (@PoliticsPeach) February 10, 2016

@politicoroger Please convey to Robbie Mook that we are not her firewall. No more #PrisonIndustrialComplex.

— JadeinNM (@Jadeinnm) February 10, 2016

@politicoroger All Sanders needs to do is gently remind SC black voters about how the Clintons treated Obama in 2008. Her support is soft.

But not all of us will. She still has substantial minority support outside of New England that will be hard to overcome. Bernie supporters mock this to their peril. I would suggest more outreach and less relying on particular endorsements, which are suspect in their ability to move people to vote one way or another.

Killer Mike was on NPR last night. He believes the media is spinning the PoC firewall her campaign thinks she has. But then, he truly adores Bernie & believes he is the leader of all of US~

With the corruption in politics, a lot of endorsements don't cut it. Maybe they're going to get some PAC money to get elected. Or a campaign visit from Bill. Maybe they're going to get a committee appointment or a loan approved or a law passed they want. etc.

Washington is corrupt. So I need actual acts - factual stuff.

speech -

1. Clinton took money from Prisons for PROFITS and SUPPORTS THEM (how disgusting is that?)

2. Clinton voted for the Bankruptcy Bill which disproportionately hurts poor women and children

3. Clinton supported Welfare Reform which disproportionately hurts poor women and children

4. Clinton supported NAFTA which closed 60,000 factories and cost MILLIONS of jobs - affecting the minority communities.

5. He was arrested in Chicago for fighting against segregated housing while attending the University of Chicago - who OWNED that campus housing.

6. He was marching for Civil Rights with MLK while Hillary was busy being a Goldwater Girl just 2 years later.

He already talks about abolishing the death penalty and we all know minorities are executed at a disproportionately higher rate than whites. HILLARY SUPPORTS THE DEATH PENALTY (How sick is that?)

He already speaks about minorities being arrested more often for having marijuana on them, when whites aren't and both smoke pot just as much as the other.

He already talks about the U.S. having more people in Prison than any other country, and we all know that is disproportionately minority men.

He already talks about making our police departments more representative of their communities, so we don't have anymore Ferguson, MO.

He already talks about demilitarizing our police departments, which are disproportionately brought out against minority communities

He already talks about black youth unemployment compared to white youth unemployment (51%) and needing jobs training programs.

Bernie needs to hit her hard with all these points. He has spent his entire life standing up against racism and bigotry.

why there is such loyalty to the Clintons. In the 1990's, when Bill was POTUS, he signed some pieces of legislation that were crafted by Republicans that negatively affected minorities in a big way. While I realize Hillary shouldn't be judged by her husband, it's not like she was a bump on a log back them. During the first Clinton campaign, they made a point of saying "2 for the price of 1," almost promising a co-presidency. She was very involved back then and must have contributed her opinions to the mix.

Only after he showed them he could win the GE - which happened with a big help of white people in IA - did they switch their support to him. Hillary's support is still the default position of the majority of black voters. They are not closed to Bernie, but they want to see the goods.
