2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCongrats to Bernie on battling Hillary to a tie in New Hampshire....as of 10:30 et
So far both have pulled 13 delegates out of New Hampshire. Bernie will likely get a few more delegates and that's it.
His victory didn't amount to much when it comes to the hard reality of winning delegates and ultimately the Democratic nomination.

they go around and shoot the survivors!
Which her campaign will probably be doing shortly...

(11,802 posts)It would end with a GOP win and a Democratic party unable to win elections for at least the next 3 or 4 if not a generation. Let's just hope it doesn't "get nasty", yeah?

(26,549 posts)Sanders just won by the largest margin in NH primary history.
You should not consider their votes "locked-in". Self-preservation is quite powerful in politicians.

I think that this keeps up and her vaunted super delegates will switch ships!

(4,552 posts)This report includes the super delegates.
So her number is already larger even tho she is behind by 21 points as of 10:30 pm
Wish they would not report like this, very misleading since super delegates don't factor until the convention.
itsrobert
(14,157 posts)Isn't that true?
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)That is why they are properly called pledged delegates.
Superdelegates are properly called unpledged delegates. Though they may announce their support of a candidate, they are not held to that commitment. They may change their loyalty at any time...as most of Hillary's superdelegates did in '08.

(2,510 posts)a crushing defeat.
a train wreck.
a repudiation.
a complete humiliation.
Now, if after that kind of crushing humiliation, she gets near the same amount of delegates out of New Hampshire, then there is something seriously wrong with the Democratic party's nomination system.

She made history tonight as having lost worse than anyone else, ever.
Hard to call that a tie.

(10,751 posts)...in superdelegates, which is what this "same number of delegates" represents.
The thing about superdelegates is, they are not committed to vote one way or the other. They are free to change their votes, unlike the pledged delegates who are won during the voting / caucusing process.
But you knew that.
Way to try and tamp down our enthusiasm.
Ha ha, won't work. GO BERNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
