No wonder the Clinton campaign is in a panic. Minorities are feeling the bern!
52% for Clinton, 48% for Sanders.

(10,125 posts)the Clinton campaign delivered a 3 page memo on how they can still win the primary before the 8pm call.
Rachel said what was notable is that the Clinton campaign are no longer touting firewalls Nevada and South Carolina. They discussed that the unions are going for Sanders in Nevada and that when they debated in South Carolina, Clyburn's son remarked what a good organization Sanders had down there.
If that's true, we have a revolution. That doesn't mean we've won the war. But it does mean, the fight will continue for a while yet.

(10,125 posts)"The next two states to vote in the Democratic primary are Nevada and South Carolina. (Nevada votes before South Carolina for Democrats; the reverse is true for Republicans.) In both cases, theres been a conspicuous absence of polling: Nevada hasnt been polled since December, and South Carolina was polled a few times in January but hasnt been surveyed since Iowa."
I've felt for sometime that the Clinton campaign has had their finger on the polling scale. PPP was hired by Correct the Record to do the debate poll. Poll after poll after poll had demographics that favored Clinton. I don't remember a poll where the demographics favored Bernie. I'll probably never know the answer but I'm suspicious. I wonder if the polls have been held back ...
If I could bet, I'd bet heavy that when Nevada comes out, Bernie's closed the gap some - including with Latinos. When SC poll comes out, Bernie will have closed the gap some with Blacks.
With that Clinton campaign memo tonight downplaying the firewall of Nevada and South Carolina, that suggests to me Bernie's making some headway there.

(10,500 posts)NH is a great state for Bernie...and well-earned on his part.
Whether he turns it around in SC remains to be seen, but if the SC primary were held today he would lose the AA vote there decisively.
The assertions that Sanders won't do well among minority voters is based strictly on the polling data--nothing else. There is no malicious intent to defame SBS.
ram2008
(1,238 posts)From a state that was bombarded with both messages. It means Bernie's message does resonate in minority communities given enough time.
StevieM
(10,500 posts)in a different state. He was polling better with white NH voters than he was with white voters in SC or Iowa.
And I just don't think that minority voters in NH can project what will happen in the SC black community.
I understand that Bernie has a lot going for him, and is about to get a huge boost. But that doesn't mean that any previously identified advantages have been contradicted.
The predictions about SC black voters are based on overwhelming polling numbers, just like Bernie's NH victory was predicted on that basis. I don't see how it makes sense to look at tonight's results and conclude that there must be a problem with the SC polling, let alone a problem as wide as the one that is being suggested.

(10,500 posts)He did better with women in NH then he did or is expected to do in other states. Just like he did better with men then he is expected to in other states. He did better with white voters than in other states.
That doesn't mean that he will do as well with all these groups in later states to the extent that he did in New Hampshire.

(1,695 posts)You're the one that seemingly has a problem with the minority percentages in NH.
Christ, "disgusting & shameful". What hyperbole. Let's look back at what I responded to. A poster says a smart ass comment about no minorities in NH. I make a remark and you feel the need to say there's no diversity or integration there. As if that's purposefully set up that way.
"Racist" What complete horseshit. There's not one thing racist about what I said. I'm not buying what you're selling. Nor will I be shamed by the likes of you.

(47,209 posts)If your mind is going sick places like bussing minorities places - please keep credit for the nutty idea to yourself. Or share it with Trump. It does not belong here.
Inkfreak
(1,695 posts)I guess I'm taking umbrage with the idea that those that voted for Bernie don't matter because of that. I'm getting that impression from posters in this thread.
My remark was snarky, yes. But I'm not advocating bussing anyone. I'm the one who has no objection to the percentages. People choose to live where they wanna.
And spare me the insulation I'm a Trump supporter & by proxy, a RW'er. He's a jackass and I'm no republican.
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)Your idea. Not any Clinton supporter. So, keep that bullshit to yourself.
People discuss demographics all the damned time- and SC is the opposite of NH, it is what it is. No one is asking you to love it, but they do not deserve to be painted as racists for merely discussing it.
If being a majority white it makes you feel marginalized that other groups are being discussed- you have some soul searching to do. You have no good reason to resent it.
