Robert Reich on playing it safe...

This man is so wise...I wonder why he doesn't run for office? He nails it in this article.

Instead of “Yes we can,” many Democrats have adopted a new slogan this election year: “We shouldn’t even try.”

We shouldn’t try for single-payer system, they say. We’ll be lucky if we prevent Republicans from repealing Obamacare.

We shouldn’t try for a $15 an hour minimum wage. The best we can do is $12 an hour.

We shouldn’t try to restore the Glass-Steagall Act that used to separate investment and commercial banking, or bust up the biggest banks. We’ll be lucky to stop Republicans from repealing Dodd-Frank.

You're suppose to ignore the WS ties too.

So when you don't get what you thought you should, she will remind
you that she told you had hard it is...hard choices. Kind of a win win
strategy from her view, no delivery, no complaints from her voters
either.

Kind of clever when you think about it.

Promise nothing, deliver nothing -- who can complain?

In saying that they really do want more. What they're really scared of is getting a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a solid majority in the House, plus a Democratic president. That happened for a short time and they were shaking in their boots.

Fortunately for them it evaporated quickly enough that they could go back to making excuses for why they couldn't get anything done that the vast majority of Americans support.
