2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOne said "Mission accomplished" with a smirk. The other said "We came. We saw. He died" and laughed.
One is universally trashed and ridiculed, and rightly so.
The other gets a pass from her supporters.
One, in his arrogance and naivete, ruined a country and caused the deaths of untold numbers of people. That country had done the United States no harm.
The other thought killing the leader of a country which had done the United States no harm was good foreign policy, causing it to become a failed state which people are fleeing in record numbers, causing a worldwide refugee crisis.
Pick the foreign policy expert.

(1,571 posts)....the banal shopping of a new catch phrase, the studied smirk and flicking of imaginary dust from one's shoulder - these prepackaged tropes reveal an obsession with superficial image and a pop culture appropriation of history.
Veni, vidi, vici indeed. Less Julius Ceasar, more Arthur Fonzarelli.
