Who won the Paul Sadler-Ted Cruz debate? Heh-heh-heh-heh.......

Well, judging from the panic in the Texas press I am guessing Ted Cruz must've been whupped as badly as it looked on my tv. In their haste to do damage control, one Austin television station stooped to quoting an unnamed (sic) poll giving Ted Cruz a 26-point lead, and another seems to have edited-out any mention of Paul Sadler in one election story featuring Cruz in some sort of heavenly, artificial light. That's no surprise after the way they campaigned for Dubya when he was running for governor. Meanwhile, back at the debate, co-moderator Brad Watson of WFAA-TV was so startled by Sadler that he actually had to join in the debate on behalf of Cruz. That's no surprise either, although Watson also got backhanded by Sadler. However, Watson probably got scolded by his bosses too for making the mistake of repeatedly cutting off Sadler in an attempt to let Cruz talk himself out of trouble. Cruz could only memorize so many bumper stickers. The cameras had to stay off of the other co-moderator, Gromer Jeffers of The Dallas Morning News, apparently because he couldn't keep from laughing at Cruz. (Jeffers was also startled when Sadler corrected him for misquoting one of his own paper's editorials.)

Cruz is going to need yet another big transfusion of out-of-state money after this. Sadler will get some more in-state donations just for simply shoving all of the Tea Party slogans down ol' Ted's throat, including the Second Amendment chest-thumping. Hopefully someone will show Cruz where the bullet comes out.

Paul Sadler is a highly-intelligent, old school Progressive playing to win, but he's still having to drive from town to town in order to campaign. He's worth a couple of your bucks if you can spare it. After all, he will be representing you too.

...30 days out. I'm sure that Sadler's a respectable guy, and if you can volunteer for him, great, but money isn't going to make a difference here: Sadler's COH at the end of July was only $30,000, and even if he had a good September reporting period, he's miles behind Cruz financially, and this is rated as a SAFE REPUBLICAN seat. Meanwhile, while things are looking better, we're struggling to hold onto Montana (where your $$ go a LOT further than Texas) and North Dakota, and making progress at taking Nevada, Massachusetts, and maybe Arizona. Those are much better investments at this point.
